Texas A&M (10) vs. Houston (2) Bracket Prediction: March Madness Odds

It’s No. 10 seed Texas A&M taking on No. 2 seed Houston in an all-Texas battle, as part of the Round of 32 in the South Region – how fitting. Bucky Ball vs. hard-nosed Sampson ball. This game is in Oklahoma City and tips off at 6:10 PM ET on Saturday, with the winner earning the right to play in Houston next weekend.

Texas A&M upset No. 7 seed St. Mary’s in a wire-to-wire dominant display of pressure defence, holding the Gaels to 50 points. Houston, meanwhile, dispatched of No. 15 seed Idaho, 78-47, behind freshman phenom Kingston Flemings’ 18 points.

Texas A&M vs. Houston NCAA Tournament Point Spread and Betting

What we know about Houston is that they absolutely dominate teams below their level. 23.5 points were simply not enough against Idaho, and Houston won by 31, obviously.

Now, Texas A&M is talented. It’s a big SEC school, but they are not on Houston’s level.

When A&M played two Big 12 schools in November, Oklahoma State and UCF, they lost by double digits both times. A&M plays heavily into analytics, while Houston does not, but Houston can exploit that with efficient mid-range jumpers, which is what Texas A&M tries to force.

Texas A&M Aggies

Bucky McMillan’s first season in College Station has been a success, all things considered. With a completely rebuilt roster, the Aggies went 21-11 and leaned into an aggressive, pressing identity that forced turnovers and sped up opponents. Rashaun Agee emerged as the focal point, averaging 14.7 points and 8.8 rebounds, while Rylan Griffen’s late-season shooting surge added another dimension.

The concern remains consistency. When A&M’s perimeter shots aren’t falling, the offence can stagnate quickly. That was evident in their SEC Tournament loss to Oklahoma, where turnovers and poor shooting derailed them. Against Houston’s elite defence, creating efficient looks, especially in the half-court, will be a major challenge. Still, with five players averaging double digits, this is a veteran group capable of stretches of high-level play.

Houston Cougars

Houston looks every bit like a national contender. Kelvin Sampson’s group is once again anchored by elite guard play and suffocating defence. Freshman star Kingston Flemings has been electric, breaking scoring records and showcasing the ability to take over games. He’s complemented by Emmanuel Sharp and veteran point guard Milos Uzan, forming one of the most complete backcourts in the country.

Defensively, Houston ranks among the nation’s best, forcing turnovers and contesting everything. The Cougars’ physicality and discipline make life miserable for opponents, especially inside the arc. While depth is a concern, and their metrics dip slightly against top-tier competition, this is still a team with Final Four aspirations. Their ability to control tempo and dominate the offensive glass gives them a clear edge in most matchups.

Who Will Win Aggies vs. Cougars?

Texas A&M’s pressure defence and transition offence can bother teams, but Houston is uniquely equipped to handle it. The Cougars’ experienced backcourt takes care of the ball, and their half-court execution should expose A&M’s interior defensive weaknesses. Expect Kingston Flemings to shine, especially in the mid-range, where A&M’s defensive scheme is vulnerable.

Houston’s advantage on the glass is another key factor, with second-chance opportunities likely piling up. While A&M may keep things competitive early with energy and pace, Houston’s discipline should take over.
