The Washington Wizards have been a disappointment in the early going and things only get tougher for the Wizards on Wednesday night when they make their lone visit of the season to Golden State.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

This game will feature two of the NBA’s best backcourts. The Warriors’ duo of Steph Curry and Klay Thompson is clearly the league’s best, but Washington’s All-Star duo of John Wall and Bradley Beal is right atop the next tier. Curry might be the best 3-point shooter in NBA history, while Beal is the Wizards’ all-time 3-point leader.

Golden State won both games in the series last year. The one in Oakland was early in the season and by a score of 120-117. The Warriors rallied from down 18, and both Beal and Draymond Green were ejected after a second-quarter fight. Curry had 20 points and eight assists, while Kevin Durant – who is from the Washington, D.C. area – had 31 points. Wall had 20 points and 14 assists but missed a late 3-pointer. Beal had just four points before being tossed.

The game in D.C. saw the Warriors prevail 109-101 behind 32 points from Durant and 25 from Curry. Beal had one of his worst games, missing his first nine shots and finishing with just eight points while being hounded by Thompson, who is a terrific defender. Wall was out injured. It was the second game of a back-to-back for the Wizards.

Washington is 4-1 ATS in the past five meetings.

Washington Wizards

Maybe all the Wizards needed to get that first win was to leave D.C.? They lost their first two games at home, both close, and started a five-game trip through the Western Conference on Monday with a 125-124 OT upset in Portland. Markieff Morris blew up with a career-high six 3-pointers and 28 points. Beal had 25 points, while Wall was 5-for-19 for 16 points. Otto Porter Jr. blocked Damian Lillard’s layup attempt at the final buzzer. Dwight Howard has yet to debut with the Wizards due to back issues but is travelling with the team. Fellow big man Ian Mahinmi left Monday with back spasms, so Washington could be really thin down low. Even with Monday’s win, the Wiz are 2-10 ATS in their past 12 on the road.

Golden State Warriors

The Warriors have looked somewhat mortal in the early going but are still 3-1 and it took a last-second blocked shot for them to suffer their lone loss. Golden State had its first blowout win Monday night in beating the visiting Phoenix Suns 123-103. Curry had 29 points and eight assists and Durant 22 points. Thompson suffered a mild left ankle sprain, and it’s not yet clear if he plays here. The game was a rout when Thompson left so it could be nothing. Then again, the Warriors are going to be careful with their key guys during the regular season as they only care about the playoffs. Thompson has been off in the early going, shooting just 13.6 per cent from deep. Fellow guard Shaun Livingston, a key part of the second unit, missed his second straight Monday with a left knee injury.
