Washington Wizards vs. Toronto Raptors Prediction, NBA Odds

The Raptors have absolutely no right losing or even being threatened on Friday night as they welcome the horrid Washington Wizards to Scotiabank Arena. Toronto is a 13.5-point favourite on the NBA odds with a huge total of 239.5 for an NBA Cup game.

Wizards vs. Raptors NBA Betting Odds

There really is little positive to say about the Washington Wizards franchise right now. It has been a mess for years and might be the biggest mess in the NBA this season with a single win. The record for fewest wins in an 82-game season is nine by the 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers. That’s probably safe only as later in the season there will be plenty of other teams tanking as well, so Washington will start winning occasionally.

It’s not like there’s no talent here. Frenchman Alex Sarr was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 draft and looks like he will be a good player. Kyshawn George, Bub Carrington and Bilal Coulibaly all have promise. The team has two very solid veteran guards around in CJ McCollum and Khris Middleton, and it’s likely both are dealt by the trade deadline. The Wizards just haven’t found that one franchise-changing superstar in many years. Maybe they will atop the 2026 draft.

Friday marks the first of three meetings between the Wizards and Raptors and Washington’s only visit to Toronto. The Dinos have won seven straight season series, including 3-1 last year. It’s an NBA Cup game from East Group A. Toronto is atop that at 2-0 and Washington at the bottom at 0-1; the Raptors are -1500 favourites to win it. Cleveland, Atlanta and Indiana are also in that group.

Toronto is 6-1 ATS in the past seven meetings.

Washington Wizards

Washington won its second game of the season at Dallas – which told us a lot about this season’s Mavericks – but hasn’t won since. It dropped a 12th straight game Wednesday, 120-109 at Minnesota, and most of these losses have been of the double-digit variety.

The only NBA coach fired so far this season has been Willie Green by New Orleans, but Washington’s Brian Keefe might not last the weekend, especially if the Wiz are routed again Friday. It’s not a truly awful offensive team but is defensively, allowing a league-worst 128.9 PPG.

One bright spot of late has been second-year forward Kyshawn George as he has scored at least 23 points in back-to-back games. Centre Alex Sarr missed Wednesday with a toe injury and is questionable. His 10 multi-block games lead the NBA. Sarr leads all league sophomores in scoring at 18.3 PPG and George is second at 17.4.

Washington is 2-10 ATS in its past 12.

Toronto Raptors

Toronto won its season-high fifth game in a row and for the ninth time in the past 10 on Wednesday, 121-112 in Philadelphia – the team’s best 10-game run since February 2020. It certainly helped that the Sixers were without Joel Embiid and Paul George. They still led at the half, but the Raptors dominated the third quarter.

Brandon Ingram and RJ Barrett each scored 22 points to lead the way. Immanuel Quickley scored 11 of his 18 points in the fourth, hitting two big 3-pointers in the final three minutes. Second-year player Ja’Kobe Walter is not having a good season, but he stepped up Wednesday with a team-high 11 points off the bench on 4-of-5 from the field. Toronto is now 6-3 when six-or-more players score in double digits this season.

The Raptors have also shot at least 50 per cent from the field in four consecutive games, trying a franchise record. Reserve Ochai Agbaji dressed after sitting out Toronto’s past four contests with a back issue but ended up getting a DNP-CD.

Rookie first-round pick Collin Murray-Boyles was out with a foot injury. Toronto is 8-2 ATS in its past 10. Friday marks the first time since April 2023 that the Dinos are at least 13-point favourites. They are 4-0 SU & ATS in their past four as such.
