Wizards vs. Raptors NBA Betting Odds

This likely will be the last time this season the Raptors are favoured as they host playoff-bound Indiana in the home finale Tuesday and then visit Brooklyn on Wednesday before closing with two in Miami next Friday and Sunday. It is possible the Heat are locked into their playoff seed by then, so they could opt to rest some key guys.

Unlike Toronto, Washington planned to be terrible this season, but the front office/ownership might have picked a terrible time to tank. Why? The 2024 NBA Draft class is considered one of the overall weakest in many years and there is no clear-cut No. 1 overall pick even if the Wizards win the lottery. That franchise has picked first twice: In 2001 it took high schooler Kwame Brown, and he was a mega-bust. In 2010, the team took John Wall out of Kentucky, and he had a nice career before it was wrecked by injury.

Toronto leads the season series 2-1, all-time 63-41 and 37-16 at home – having won the past three at Scotiabank Arena. That one loss this season was the most recent meeting, 112-109 in D.C. on March 23.

Washington Wizards

The Wizards lost for the fifth time in six games Friday, 108-102 at home vs. Portland as Washington tied a franchise record (2000-01 and 2008-09) with its 63rd loss of the season. The Wizards shot a season-worst 15.2 per cent from deep and fell to 8-26 under interim head coach Brian Keefe. Arguably the team’s two best players, point guard Tyus Jones and forward Kyle Kuzma, were among those out. Really no point bringing either back if remotely injured. Both may well be traded this offseason. Jones is leading the NBA with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 7.3. One bright spot this year has been young forward Deni Avdija, who is averaging career highs of 14.4 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists. Washington is 2-11 in its past 13 away.

Toronto Raptors

The Raptors broke their 15-game losing streak, two shy of the franchise record, with a 117-111 upset victory in Milwaukee on Friday – obviously helped by the fact the Bucks rested Giannis Antetokounmpo, which we told you was likely to happen. Toronto is not that bad when RJ Barrett (26 points, seven rebounds), Immanuel Quickley (25 points, 11 rebounds, nine assists) and Gary Trent Jr. (31 points, five rebounds) are all healthy. That trio had played together in only two of the team’s 15 losses during the skid. Friday also marked just the second road game in franchise history where three players had at least 25 points and two steals (Dec. 23, 2022). Toronto led by as many as 14 and had its first halftime lead in 11 games. The Raptors are 1-5 ATS in their past six.
