Washington Wizards vs. Toronto Raptors Prediction, NBA Odds
It was a wild finish on Saturday for these teams. After it looked like Toronto’s Jamal Shead has won the game with a buzzer-beater, a video review showed he got the shot off 0.1 seconds too late and Washington walked away with a 118-117 victory.
The Raptors are 6.5-point favourites to win the rematch, with the total set at 232.5 on the NBA odds.
Wizards vs. Raptors NBA Betting Odds
The home team came out on top in both previous head-to-heads this season. Before Saturday’s game, Toronto won 106-82 in Washington on Jan. 29. Overall, the Dinos have won seven of the last 10 head-to-heads, but they’ve only covered three times in that stretch.
This really is a game between two teams that don’t want to win as they each strive for the top pick in the upcoming NBA draft. The Wizards are dead last in the NBA with a two-game cushion over Utah, while Toronto remains five games back of the final spot for the Eastern Conference play-in tournament.
The Raptors have been a much better cover option this season, going 37-26-1 against the spread, including 21-13 ATS at home. Even with low expectations, Washington is just 27-34-1 ATS, including 12-6-1 ATS on the road.
Higher scoring games have been the norm at Scotiabank Arena this season and that trend has continued recently, with Toronto hitting the Over in seven of their last nine home dates.
Washington Wizards
Jordan Poole led the way for Washington on Saturday, dropping a game-high 34 points. Bilal Coulibaly (18 points, 10 rebounds) and rookie Alex Sarr (10 pts, 14 rbs) backed up Poole with a double-double each. In a bit of a weird move for a team trying to tank for the No. 1 draft pick this year, all five of Washington’s starters were on the floor for the final two minutes, trying to hold onto their slim lead. The Wizards currently hold a 14 per cent chance to win the draft lottery, tied with Utah and Charlotte for the best odds.
Toronto Raptors
RJ Barrett scored a team-high 23 points on Saturday for his third straight game of 20-plus points in the month of March. Jakob Poeltl added 21 points and Scottie Barnes had 18. Overall, the team was sloppy, finishing with 15 turnovers that led to 16 points. Toronto had a different strategy than Washington as they limited Poeltl’s playing minutes and they only had two starters on the floor at the end of the game. The Dinos currently hold the fifth-best odds to win the draft lottery at 10.5 per cent.
