If there’s a Game 7 between Warriors-Rockets, it would be back in Oakland on Sunday. The winner of Game 5 of a best-of-7 when the series was tied 2-2 goes on to win the series around 82 percent of the time.

This Western Conference Semifinal is starting to look at lot like last year’s West Finals. Then, Houston won Game 5 to take a 3-2 series lead but lost a future Hall of Famer, Chris Paul, to a hamstring injury in the game that ended his series. The Warriors would win the final two games.

NBA Playoffs Point Spread and Betting Analysis

On Wednesday night, the Warriors were 104-99 home winners to take a 3-2 series lead, but likely lost a future Hall of Famer, Kevin Durant, to a calf injury that probably ends his series. As of this writing, we don’t have a definitive answer to that. Needless to say, Durant being out is going to hugely affect the Game 6 spread and the series line at Sports Interaction.

This is just the fourth series in NBA history in which each of the first five games were all decided by six points or fewer.

Golden State Warriors

Twitter blew up late in the third quarter of Wednesday’s game when Durant pulled up lame after hitting a baseline jumper. He hadn’t been touched on the play and didn’t land on his defender’s foot. However, when Durant started grabbing the back of his right leg, the world immediately started speculating that it was an Achilles injury and those are major.

That would have not only ended Durant’s season but would have potentially altered this summer’s free-agent market in a big way. Durant wouldn’t return Wednesday and the Dubs’ initial diagnosis was a calf strain. Much, much better news but even a Grade 1 calf strain generally costs a player 7-10 days. A Grade 2 often means 4-6 weeks. So, for our purposes we will assume Durant is at least out Game 6 and most believe his series is over. An MRI later Thursday will tell the tale.

Steph Curry and Klay Thompson are both having subpar series shooting-wise but both came up big after Durant left. Thompson led with 27 points and Curry 25. That was their highest combined point total this postseason.

Houston Rockets

If the Rockets don’t beat the Warriors in this series, they should point to Game 5. It was there for the taking with Durant going down and Draymond Green eventually fouling out. Houston rallied from down as many as 20 to lead a couple of times in the fourth quarter, but James Harden and Chris Paul both largely disappeared in the fourth.

Harden finished with 31 points and eight assists but attempted just one shot in the final seven minutes and had a lone assist the entire quarter. Paul was terrible all night in hitting just 3-for-14 and missing all six three-pointers. On the bright side, Houston is unbeaten at home in these playoffs and may not have to deal with Durant again.
