The Golden State Warriors have won five of six games so far this season and have covered three in a row. They trailed the New York Knicks entering the fourth quarter of Friday night’s game in New York but a 47-point fourth quarter helped them win and cover. The Warriors are not getting great play from everyone on their roster just yet, which makes this upcoming road game against the Brooklyn Nets a tricky one to handicap.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Warriors started the season out by failing to cover their first three games but they have covered each of their last three games. They are 2-0 ATS versus teams that are allowing 106+ points per game.

As for Brooklyn, they’ve been reliable against the spread so far. They’ve covered three of four games as an underdog, which they are again on Sunday. They’ve actually won 14 of the last 21 meetings they’ve hosted in this series.

Golden State Warriors

The Warriors drifted through the first three quarters against the Knicks on Friday. They trailed by three after three quarters and were not locked in on defence and then the fourth quarter began. The Warriors slapped a 47-16 quarter on the Knicks, their most complete quarter of the young season to date. Kevin Durant scored 25 of those 47 fourth-quarter points and ended with 41 points. Stephen Curry scored 29. Both men are white-hot, even though Klay Thompson was 6-of-18 and 0-of-4 from three-point range and Andre Iguodala scored only two points in 24 minutes.

The Warriors hit 59 percent of their field goals and 49 percent of their threes. The Knicks shot only 43 percent from the field and made 33 percent of their threes. What helped the Warriors were 19 Knick turnovers against the Dubs’ defensive pressure. Golden State got 10 steals and generated buckets off some of them. The Warriors also did not allow the Knicks many foul shots, only 12 for the whole night. The Warriors’ big concern: allowing 11 offensive rebounds. Golden State has continuously struggled in that regard in recent years. Low-post play has been a sore spot, and DeMarcus Cousins is not yet ready to play.

Brooklyn Nets

The Nets simply blew it against the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday. They led with seven seconds left and New Orleans was trying to foul, but Brooklyn guard D’Angelo Russell threw the ball out of bounds. The Pelicans inbounded the ball and scored on a Jrue Holiday jump shot. The Nets had one last chance to tie or win, but their inbounds pass was stolen. They lost 117-115. They wasted a night in which their bench scored 47 points, in which they hit 19 of 40 threes, and outrebounded the Pels 54-46.

The Nets hit 44 percent of their field goals, not as efficient as their 19-40 line from the three-point line. Brooklyn held New Orleans to 45 percent shooting, 39 percent from three.
