Golden State Warriors vs. Dallas Mavericks Prediction, NBA Odds

The Warriors had just 13 losses in their first 54 games this season, which is why it’s somewhat startling that they’ve now lost six times in their last eight contests.

One of those recent losses was at home to these Dallas Mavericks on Sunday and now the two sides will square off for the second time in a week. Can the Warriors get some revenge and start to get back on track?

Warriors vs. Mavericks NBA Betting Odds

The Warriors have been lousy as a road favorite as they have covered just two of their last nine in that spot. They’ve also covered just once in their last five road games and once in their last 10 overall.

Dallas is at the other end of the momentum spectrum, covering four of their last five overall, four of their last five at home and five straight as an underdog. They’ve been cashing out big-time for bettors of late.

Golden State Warriors

If you’re wondering why the Warriors have hit a slump, one reason might be injuries. Draymond Green has missed a good chunk of time and will remain out for this game, Andre Iguodala isn’t expected to play and Klay Thompson is suffering from an illness. This has left the team with Steph Curry, Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole to carry the offensive load here. Luckily, Curry is one of the best offensive weapons of all-time as he is averaging 25.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game for his team. Wiggins pours on an additional 17.5 points himself.

The main issue has been at the other end of the court where their defense has been torched. They’ve allowed 113.6 points per game over their last eight, which is nearly 10 points more than their season-long average of 104.0. That has to improve if they’re to get back on track.

Dallas Mavericks

Very quietly, the Mavericks have become one of the best teams in the NBA since Christmas. The team start the 2021-22 campaign just 15-17 but has since won 22 of their last 30 contests. Although everyone knows the Luka Doncic story, it’s actually their defense that’s led the way. The Mavs are ranked second-best in terms of points-per-game allowed, which is quite impressive. They protect the three-point line well as they have the fourth-best opponent three-point field goal percentage.

The Mavs swapped out the oft-injured Kristaps Porzingis at the trade deadline for back court help like Davis Bertans and Spencer Dinwiddie. The team is playing well already and these two aren’t fully integrated. Look for them to become more comfortable and give this team more of a bench. That could be valuable in this spot – especially since the Warriors are shorthanded.
