Golden State Warriors vs. Los Angeles Lakers Game 3 Prediction, Odds

This Saturday the Lakers are priced as 3-point favourites on the NBA odds.

Warriors vs. Lakers NBA Playoff Betting Odds

With Golden State winning Game 2 in a 127-100 rout, the Warriors are back as -122 series favourites (were +139 entering Game 2) and the Lakers -109 (were -185). On the series handicap, Los Angeles at +1.5 games is -333 and Golden State at -1.5 is +234. The favoured series score after Game 4 is a 2-2 tie at -111.

The over-under total games is 5.5 with the over a -455 favourite. That it finishes in six games is +138 with seven games the same price. Five is +295. The exact favoured result is Warriors in seven at +249, and that’s where I lean.

Golden State beat Sacramento in Game 3 of Round 1 but that was in San Francisco. The Lakers won Game 3 at home of their first-round series vs. Memphis by 10. LA also won both regular-season home games vs. the Warriors.

Los Angeles is 4-1 ATS in the past five meetings.

Golden State Warriors

The Warriors don’t lose back-to-back playoff home games under Steve Kerr so not a huge shock they bounced back from a 117-112 loss in Game 1 with a dominant 127-100 victory in Game 2 on Thursday. Klay Thompson hit eight three-pointers to finish with 30 points, while Steph Curry had 20, and Draymond Green 11 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists. It was Thompson’s sixth career playoff game with at least eight made three-pointers, an NBA record. Golden State has made 39 from deep in this series so far, the most in a two-game span in franchise postseason history. It was Kerr’s 17th playoff win by at least 25 points as a head coach, tying Gregg Popovich for most in NBA history. The Warriors are 1-4 ATS in their past five after a win.

Los Angeles Lakers

Because Thursday’s game was out of hand in the second half, no starter on either team played heavy minutes. That’s especially important for veteran and rather injury-prone Lakers stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis as they both played more than 40 minutes in Game 1. James didn’t look affected by that in Game 2 with 23 points and seven assists, but Davis looked completely different with only 11 points. He was the best player for most of Game 1. The Warriors’ major adjustment in Game 2 was going small, removing rebounding machine Kevon Looney from the starting lineup and replacing him with JaMychal Green. With Green as the primary defender in Game 2, Davis went 4-of-8 from the floor. In Game 1, Davis shot 8-of-12 against Looney. Los Angeles was gifted 29 free throw attempts in Game 1 but 17 in Game 2 and made only 10. The Lakers have won nine straight games when the series is tied 1-1, the longest such win streak in NBA history. They are 4-0 ATS in their past four after a loss.
