Lou Williams and the Los Angeles Clippers engineered the greatest comeback in NBA playoff history to steal a win from Golden State on Monday night. The oddsmakers don’t expect the momentum to spill over into Game 3 for the Clippers. The Warriors are large road favourites for Thursday’s matchup at Staples Center even though they’ll be down one of their starters.

NBA Playoffs Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The seven-game playoff win streak is over for the defending champions. Golden State hadn’t lost a Game 5 of the Western Conference finals last spring against the Houston Rockets. The Dubs won two straight against the Rockets and then swept LeBron James and the Cavaliers in the Finals.

Game 1 of their series against the Clippers went according to script and Game 2 was headed in that direction as well before the home side pulled off a 31-point, come-from-behind victory. It was the type of improbable comeback that could have made a healthy profit for live bettors. In-game betting odds for the Clippers to win on the moneyline reached as high as (fill in blank) when the Warriors were ahead big in the third quarter at Sports Interaction.

Oddsmakers still expect Stephen Curry and Co. to easily get by LA. The shop lists the Warriors at -125 to finish the series off in five games and -333 to reach the NBA Finals.

Returning to LA might not be great news for Clipper supporters. The club is just 3-8 against the spread (ATS) this season when catching points on its home floor. The ATS win in Game 2 was the Clippers’ first in their last six contests.

Total bettors are paying close attention to where the over/under number lands for Game 3. The series has featured the highest totals in the postseason and Game 3 opened at 237. That’s the highest over/under line in this year’s playoffs.

Golden State Warriors

The Big 5 is no longer a thing this year in Golden State. DeMarcus Cousins, the Warriors’ major offseason signing, torn his hamstring muscle diving for a loose ball in Game 2 and is expected to miss the rest of the playoffs.

Cousins missed the first half of the season as he recovered from a torn Achilles’ tendon. The Warriors won a boatload of games over the past three seasons without Boogie, but his absence could be a factor in the later rounds of the postseason.

LA Clippers

There’s no question who the MVP of the series is through two games. Lou Williams is averaging 30.5 points and 10 assists in just 32.5 minutes per game in the series. The Warriors seem to have no clue how to stop Williams in a pick ‘n’ roll. The Clippers are scoring 1.2 points per possession when Sweet Lou runs a pick ‘n’ roll.
