Trail Blazers vs. Lakers Prediction, NBA Odds: Doncic hits scoring props
The Portland Trail Blazers visit the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night at Crypto.com Arena in a battle between two teams that, somewhat surprisingly, sit at the top of the early-season Western Conference standings.
Both teams are looking to extend three-game winning streaks in this NBA Cup group play matchup.
Portland enters the contest atop the conference at 6-1 following Wednesday’s 132-119 victory over Phoenix, while Los Angeles (7-2) defeated Sacramento 116-103.
The Trail Blazers have already beaten the Lakers this season, winning 136-129 in Los Angeles on October 27.
Spread
Trail Blazers vs. Lakers NBA Betting Odds
The Lakers are 2.5-point favourites on the NBA odds board and at -136 on the money line. Portland is +115, while the total is 233.5 points.
Portland has won three of its last four meetings with Los Angeles, including both visits to Crypto.com Arena this season and last. The Trail Blazers are unbeaten in five road games.
Both teams have been productive offensively, with Portland averaging 121.9 points per game and Los Angeles averaging 121.8.
Portland Trail Blazers
The Trail Blazers have been one of the NBA’s biggest early-season surprises, combining explosive scoring with improved defensive execution.
Portland defeated Phoenix on Wednesday behind Damian Lillard’s 25 points, extending its winning streak despite several significant injuries.
Lillard, who missed last season recovering from an Achilles injury, has provided valuable leadership and perimeter scoring since returning to Portland.
Deni Avdija continues to emerge as a central offensive contributor, while Donovan Clingan provides rebounding and rim protection.
However, the Trail Blazers will again be without Ja Morant, who suffered a Grade 2 hamstring strain and is expected to remain sidelined until late November.
Shaedon Sharpe is also unavailable following knee surgery, while Vit Krejci suffered a fractured ankle against Phoenix.
Those absences place additional pressure on Lillard and Avdija to generate more scoring opportunities themselves.
Portland nevertheless enters with considerable confidence after defeating Los Angeles earlier this season. The Trail Blazers shot 50% (18-for-36) from beyond the arc in that victory.
Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers have responded impressively since their recent defeat to Golden State, winning three straight games.
Luka Doncic has been virtually unstoppable during that stretch, scoring at least 40 points in each victory.
The Slovenian superstar is averaging an NBA-leading 38.5 points per game this season and has carried much of Los Angeles’ offensive workload.
Los Angeles has scored 131 or more points in two of its last three games.
However, defensive consistency is still a concern, particularly against Portland’s athletic frontcourt.
The Lakers allowed a season-worst 136 points in their previous meeting with the Trail Blazers and struggled to contain Portland’s interior scoring.
They must also improve their rebounding against Clingan and the visitors’ physical frontcourt.
NBA Prediction: Who Will Win Trail Blazers vs. Lakers?
Portland has already shown it can beat Los Angeles, but mounting injuries make repeating that performance much harder.
Without Morant, Sharpe and Krejci, the Trail Blazers could struggle to match Doncic’s offensive production.
Expect another competitive, high-scoring matchup, with Los Angeles doing enough to cover the narrow spread.
