The Golden State Warriors try for a fifth time to register their first win at the newly opened Chase Center when they host Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday night. The Warriors could be missing four of their five starters out for this game.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

This is the Blazers’ first chance of revenge since they lost in the Western Conference finals last spring to the Dubs. Portland were swept in the series despite Kevin Durant sitting the whole thing out.

Golden State will field a lineup that bares almost no resemblance to the group that took down the Blazers last May. Durant is gone; Klay Thompson is recovering from a torn ACL; and Stephen Curry is out with a broken hand.

The Warriors are 1-5 straight up and against the spread this season, and coming off a 6-point home loss to the Charlotte Hornets. Oddsmakers made Golden State a 5.5-point favourite in that game. There may not be many more games G-State is laying points without Curry in the lineup.

Portland last played on Saturday night at home against the Philadelphia 76ers. The Blazers lost 129-128 as 1-point underdogs. The team is 4-0-1 against the spread in its last five games and a perfect 4-0 away from the Moda Center (formerly known as the Rose Garden) this season.

Portland Trail Blazers

The Blazers will be lacking depth in their front court on Monday. Big men Zach Collins and Hassan Whiteside both missed Saturday’s game against Philly due to injuries. Collins is out indefinitely with a dislocated shoulder while Whiteside is iffy because of a hyper-extended knee.

Lillard remains the engine in Portland. The All-Star point guard is averaging 29.8 points, 7.8 assists, and 5.5 rebounds in six games this season. The Trail Blazers are being outscored by 26.1 points per 100 possessions when Lillard isn’t on the floor. Their net rating is a respectable +8.7 with him on the court.

Golden State Warriors

Things are grim for Bay Area basketball fans these days. The Warriors own the third worst net rating in the Association at -11.5 and they’re the worst defensive team according to defensive rating.

Curry is expected to miss up to three months with a broken hand and All-Star big Draymond Green will be out a few games with a sprained finger. Meanwhile, offseason acquisition D’Angelo Russell missed Saturday’s game with a sore ankle.
