Portland Trail Blazers vs. San Antonio Spurs Game 5 Prediction, NBA Playoff Odds
The San Antonio Spurs will be looking to wrap up their Western Conference playoff series against the Portland Trail Blazers when Game 5 takes place in San Antonio on Tuesday night.
Portland had momentum after splitting the first two contests on the road in this first-round showdown, and its chances got even better when Victor Wembanyama suffered a concussion and missed Game 3. However, it has all turned back around in the Spurs’ favor. They took both meetings in Portland and Wembanyama was back in action for Game 4.
San Antonio leads the overall 2025-26 head-to-head series 5-2, having taken two of three from Portland prior to the playoffs. The Spurs lost once at home (112-101 on April 8), but that was without Wembanyama.
San Antonio is a heavy 11.5-point favourite to win on the NBA odds, with the total set at 216.5.
Trail Blazers vs. Spurs NBA Betting Odds
Unsurprisingly, the Spurs have been favoured in most head-to-head matchups this season – including by 5.5 points on the road and by 12.5 points at home when Wembanyama played. They were also the favourites twice without Wembanyama – of -1.5 and -3 points – while being +1 underdogs on one occasion. The totals for the head-to-head regular-season games were between 229.5 and 240.5 points, but defence generally ratchets up in the playoffs, and the totals for this series have been on a steady decline from 223.5 in the opener to 215.5 for Tuesday’s showdown.
San Antonio is 4-1 against the spread in the last five meetings between these two teams and 6-2 ATS in its last eight overall. Despite its struggles in this series, Portland is still 9-6 ATS in its last 15 games. As for the over/under, the under is 9-4 in the Trail Blazers’ last 13 overall, 9-5 in the Spurs’ last 14 overall and 6-1 in the last seven head-to-head encounters.
Portland Trail Blazers
Portland cannot compete with San Antonio’s starting five, so the underdogs need to get production from their bench. That effort starts with Jerami Grant, who is averaging just 10.0 ppg in the series after scoring 18.6 ppg during the regular season. Grant is shooting only 35.1 per cent from the field and 30.8 per cent from three-point range through four games.
Of particular concern for the Trail Blazers is that they dropped two games at home, where they were far better (24-17) than they were on the road (18-23) over the course of 82 contests. Yes, they won Game 2 in San Antonio – but that was Wembanyama logged just 12 minutes before leaving.
San Antonio Spurs
First and foremost, Wembanyama is good to go. A concussion may have kept him out for a while during the regular season, but the playoffs are clearly a different story. After missing just one game, the former No. 1 overall pick looked like his normal self on Sunday – contributing 27 points, 12 rebounds, seven blocks and four steals.
Wembanyama was not alone in what was an incredible performance by San Antonio over the final 24 minutes of Game 3. After trailing by 17 points at halftime, the visitors dominated the second half 73-35 to win by 21. De’Aaron Fox delivered 28 points, seven assists, six rebounds and two blocks, while Stephon Castle came up with 16 points and eight assists.
NBA Prediction: Who Will Win Trail Blazers vs. Spurs Game 5?
The Spurs could not have more momentum after outscoring the Trail Blazers by 38 points in the second half in Portland’s own building. With Wembanyama back and probably feeling better and better each day removed from his concussion, things could get even worse for Portland – especially in San Antonio. Let’s go with the Spurs to dominate 117-97 and advance.
