The offseason drama continues for the Toronto Raptors. Siakam says he’d like to remain in Toronto, but the Raptors are listening to offers. Will it happen?
Lump this one into the “wait and see” category of sports news, but there was some hubbub about Toronto Raptors star Pascal Siakam not being present at the team’s summer league matches this weekend in Las Vegas. The word on the street is that the club is indeed listening to offers from other teams.

Complicated Pascal Siakam Situation in Toronto
One point needs to be made abundantly clear. Siakam’s absence in Las Vegas and the trade rumours do not mean that the star player is absolutely wearing different colours next autumn. Nobody has to show up to see the young guns like Gradey Dick play in the summer, but teams encourage it to build some chemistry. It’s also no secret that Siakam is in a contract negotiation phase given that a new deal would commence for the 2024-2025 campaign, in a year from now.
The question is with whom will that new deal be signed?
Reports have emerged that the Raptors are listening to what other clubs think of Siakam’s value in a potential deal. Both the Atlanta Hawks and Indiana Pacers have been mentioned as interested parties. Siakam could earn as much as $192 million over four years.
It remains to be seen how much more change happens with the Raptors. They already lost Fred VanVleet and have a new coach. Speaking of Darko Rajakovic it’s reported that he is keenly interested in having Scottie Barnes as the prized piece of the offence.
At the moment, it seems like the entire situation is a bit awkward, what with the team in a period of transition – not necessarily a full rebuild – and a star player not showing signs of wanting to be present at club activities during the offseason. But with so much in flux, including his potential very near future, why would he?
