Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Oklahoma City Thunder Game 5 Prediction, NBA Odds
Game 4 was the tightest finish of this series, with Oklahoma City pulling out a 128-126 victory to take a 3-1 series lead and move one step further to securing a spot in the NBA Finals. Will the Thunder end things on Wednesday, or can Minnesota survive to see another day?
OKC is an 8.5-point favourite to win on the NBA odds, with the total pegged at 220.5.
Timberwolves vs. Thunder NBA Betting Odds
Monday’s result was the first game in this series not to be decided by double-digit points and it was a far cry from Game 3, which had a 42-point margin of victory.
The Thunder are now massive -5000 favourites to win the series on the NBA futures board, while the T-Wolves are +1800 underdogs. Oddsmakers think this series is over as the favoured exact series result is an Oklahoma City win in five games at -375.
If you’re looking for a bit of a long shot play, you can take one game of the series to go to overtime at +1000. For what it’s worth, Game 4 was a missed field goal away from extra time and you have to think Minnesota won’t go down without a fight.
Looking further ahead, the Thunder are -375 favourites to win the NBA championship. As can be expected, the Wolves are +4000 long shots to win the NBA Finals.
Minnesota Timberwolves
After a 42-point blowout victory in Game 3, it has to be incredibly disappointing for Minnesota to be trailing 3-1 in this series following their loss in Game 4. One of the biggest differences was the play of Anthony Edwards, who was limited to 16 points on Monday after back-to-back games scoring of 30 or more points.
One positive you can take away from Game 4 is the play of the Wolves’ bench, which outscored OKC’s bench 64-27. Nickeli Alexander-Walker led the way with 23 points and Donte DiVincenzo had 21 points, with each player shooting 5-for-8 from 3-point range. If Minnesota continues to get elite production from the bench and Edwards can find a way to be a factor, they might have a chance at climbing back in this series.
Oklahoma City Thunder
To no one’s surprise it was NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who led the way for the Thunder in Game 4. SGA put up 40 points, nine rebounds and 10 assists for his biggest offensive outburst in these playoffs. Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren were also big factors, with Williams adding 34 points and Holmgren chipping in 21 points.
Oklahoma City has to like their chances at home in Game 5. The Thunder are riding a five-game win streak at Paycom Center, where they are 7-1 with a plus-191 point differential in the postseason.
