Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Sacramento Kings Prediction, NBA Odds
The 2025-26 NBA regular season campaign is only a few weeks old, and we’ve already seen enough exciting games and jaw-dropping performances to last an entire season. One of the more intriguing matchups on Friday’s NBA Cup Group Stage slate features the Oklahoma City Thunder and Sacramento Kings in a battle between two Western Conference teams trending in opposite directions at the moment.
With tip-off set at 10:10 p.m. ET, let’s get into the odds and betting trends, plus my predictions for this contest.
Thunder vs. Kings NBA Betting Odds
These teams are very different in terms of power rating this season, and while the Thunder have been absolutely rolling to the tune of an 8-1 record, the Kings have quietly put together a nice run of form against the spread in recent games. Despite all of that, the odds for this game reflect a matchup that shouldn’t be all that competitive, as the Thunder are a 10.5-point road favourite on the NBA odds, while oddsmakers expect plenty of scoring with a posted total of 232.5.
Oklahoma City was an against-the-spread darling last year, but the Thunder are just 4-5 against the number this season. On the other side, the Kings are 4-4 against the spread, but they have successfully covered the number in three straight contests.
Oklahoma City Thunder
The defending champions have looked the part to this point, and that shouldn’t be a surprise given that Oklahoma City was expected to win 65+ games coming into the season. In fact, the Thunder won the first eight games of the campaign before falling to Portland in dramatic fashion on Wednesday.
As a result, this should be a good bounce-back spot for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and an Oklahoma City team that appears to have maintained its excellent defence and competitive edge even after winning a title. As long as the Thunder put forth a solid team effort in this one, the floor of this team is high enough that they should win by double digits.
Sacramento Kings
The Sacramento Kings are unlikely to be a playoff team in the Western Conference, but the beauty of the NBA Cup is that it allows middle-of-the-pack teams across the league to compete for a trophy against the heavy hitters.
We’ve seen some of the better teams in the Association stumble a bit in spots like these, especially ones like Oklahoma City – a team that has nothing left to prove and is likely to be singularly focused on getting back to the NBA Finals next spring, instead of worrying about an in-season tournament result. With that in mind, this could be a good spot to back the Kings at home in theory, but it’s hard to see Sacramento competing with the defending NBA champions on Friday.
NBA Prediction: Who Will Win Thunder vs. Kings?
This is a pretty lopsided matchup on paper, one that Oklahoma City should be able to dominate if it plays with focus and intention. Even though Sacramento has covered the spread in three straight contests and won two of those games, the Kings should come back down to earth a bit on Friday. Look for Oklahoma City to win by double digits and progress further in the NBA Cup. The Thunder win this one 124-110.
