Boston’s TD Garden will host a potential NBA Finals preview on Wednesday night as the Celtics prepare to face the Oklahoma City Thunder. Boston beat the Utah Jazz 114-108 on Monday for their fifth straight victory, while OKC is coming off a 140-127 loss against Denver.

The Celtics are 2.5-point favourites to win on the NBA odds, with the total set at 229.5.

Thunder vs. Celtics NBA Betting Odds

This wraps up the season series after the Thunder won 105-92 at home on Jan. 5. That continued a trend that has seen the home team win five straight head-to-heads. Both teams should enter the playoffs with home court advantage in the first round as Boston currently holds second place in the Eastern Conference and OKC leads the West.

Both teams have been very successful in interconference action. The Celtics have won six of their last seven games against Western Conference opponents and the Thunder have won 10 straight against Eastern Conference teams.

All the trends point to Oklahoma City covering this game. The Thunder are a sterling 40-22-4 against the spread this season and they’ve covered in eight of their last 10 games against Boston. Conversely, the Celtics are just 29-35-1 ATS this season, including 15-19 ATS at home.

Points could be on the board in this game as the Over has hit in seven of the last 10 head-to-heads.

If you’re feeling patriotic and looking for a futures play, you could dip into the MVP race. Hamilton, Ontario native Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is a -425 favourite to win his first career NBA MVP this season, which would make him the second Canadian ever to win the award after Steve Nash won back-to-back years in 2005 and 2006.

Oklahoma City Thunder

Gilgeous-Alexander came out on the losing end of a battle between MVP candidates against Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets on Monday. The Canadian finished with 25 points, breaking a five-game streak of scoring 30-plus points. Gilgeous-Alexander still leads the NBA with 32.7 points per game and he also averages team-highs in assists (6.2), steals (1.8) and blocks (1.1).

There’s a bit of bad news for the Thunder as they will be without Jalen Williams, who left Monday’s game with a right hip strain. It’s a blow for OKC as Williams is having a breakout season, averaging 21.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.7 steals while shooting 48 per cent overall and 38 per cent from three.

Boston Celtics

Sam Hauser had a monster performance for Boston on Monday. Hauser made nine three-pointers, including seven in the third quarter, and he finished with a career-high 33 points. He became the fourth Celtics player to make nine 3s in a game this season, joining Jayson Tatum, Payton Pritchard and Derrick White. It’s the first time in NBA history four teammates have accomplished the feat in the same season.

The Celtics went without Tatum (right knee), Kristaps Porzingis (illness) and Al Horford (left big toe sprain) on Monday. For Wednesday’s contest, Tatum and Porzingis are listed as questionable against the Thunder, while Horford will play. Look for Jaylen Brown to get more touches with Tatum less than 100 per cent.
