Kevin Durant and Devin Booker make their only visit to Scotiabank Arena this season on Sunday – if they play -- with their Suns as short dogs on the odds against the Raptors.

The NBA isn’t fantasy basketball, and that’s why the Phoenix Suns aren’t legitimate Western Conference contenders despite having two of the league’s best offensive players and future Hall of Famers in Kevin Durant and Devin Booker.

Suns vs. Raptors NBA Betting Odds

The team is deep into the luxury tax yet might miss the West play-in tournament entirely. To make the full West playoffs, the Suns are +380 with no at -525.

Phoenix made one fairly big trade in mid-January to try and fix a very weak frontcourt (other than Durant) in landing centre Nick Richards from Charlotte. The team wanted to make a much bigger swing earlier this month in landing Miami All-Star Jimmy Butler, but the Suns couldn’t make it work contract wise because former All-Star guard Bradley Beal has perhaps the worst contract in the NBA.

Beal and LeBron James are the only two players with a full no-trade clause in the league and Beal killed every possible deal. That June 2023 trade for Beal from Washington is what wrecked this Suns franchise. Don’t be shocked if Durant is dealt in the offseason as a semi-rebuild begins around Booker.

It’s the first meeting of the season between these clubs with the Raptors in the desert on March 17. They split last year, each winning by seven at home. The past 10 meetings have been split overall with Toronto at 7-3 ATS.

Phoenix Suns

It’s the modern-day NBA, so it’s more than possible the Suns sit one or even both of their superstars in Kevin Durant and Devin Booker in the second of a back-to-back after the team snapped a four-game skid with a 121-117 win in Chicago on Saturday. Booker had 29 points in 38 minutes and Durant 27 points in 38 minutes. Bradley Beal had been coming off the bench of late, but Coach Mike Budenholzer inserted Beal in the starting five and brought Tyus Jones off the bench. Beal responded with 25 points as the Suns won for the first time since Jan. 31 with the Big Three of Booker, Durant and Beal in the lineup together. We’d imagine Beal stays in the starting five Sunday … assuming he plays. The Suns may play everyone simply because of their precarious position in the West playoff chase.

Toronto Raptors

Toronto took a tough 120-111 OT home loss Friday against Miami in its first game out of the All-Star break. Scottie Barnes was helped off the court late in the first after appearing to injure his right ankle but was able to return. He isn’t listed on the injury report. R.J. Barrett led the Dinos with 29 points vs. the Heat and Immanuel Quickley had 23. Barrett has scored at least 20 points in three consecutive games for the fifth time this season and is averaging 25.3 points while shooting 55.4 per cent from the field and 47.1 per cent from deep in this latest run. Centre Jakob Poeltl has been sidelined since Feb. 4 due to a right hip injury and is questionable Sunday. Still no Brandon Ingram, either. Orlando Robinson made first start of the season Friday and had nine points, five rebounds and four assists in 31 minutes. That should be enough to earn another start if Poeltl remains out.
