Suns vs. Knicks Prediction: NBA Odds, Point Spread

The Phoenix Suns are looking to break out of their mini slump and get back in the win column after losing back-to-back games for the first time since January.  Unfortunately, they’re on the road in a back-to-back situation and facing a red hot Knicks team that has won nine straight games.

Phoenix is a slim 2-point favourite to win on the NBA odds.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Overall, the Suns have staked their claim as one of the best teams in the NBA this year.  Phoenix is 13-4 straight up in their last 17 games overall and 15-5 SU in their last 20 road games.  They’re 36-23-1 against the spread this season, although they’re just 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games.  The Over has hit in 11 of the Suns’ last 15 contests.

New York is easily the hottest team in the NBA right now.  They’ve jumped up to fourth in the Eastern Conference standings and they’ve won seven straight home games.  They’ve also been a great cover option, going 10-0 ATS in their last 10.  The Knicks have hit the Over in five straight games against Western Conference teams as well as six of their last seven games overall.

Phoenix Suns

Devin Booker did all he could, but it wasn’t enough in Phoenix’s 128-119 loss to Brooklyn on Sunday.  Booker had a game-high 36 points on 12-of-24 shooting from the field and 4-of-5 shooting from 3-point range.  Heading into the fifth and final game of the Suns’ road trip, Booker is shooting 44 per cent from the field and averaging 23.5 points per game over those games.  Keeping Chris Paul’s injury history in mind, Booker is likely going to need to continue to put points on the board to get this team back to their winning ways.

The good news is, Phoenix is likely suffering more from a tiring schedule than a complete breakdown in team chemistry.  They’ve played five road games in the last eight days and they’ve been missing Jae Crowder for the last two.  Crowder is questionable for this game with an ankle injury.

New York Knicks

The Knicks are one game away from extending their season-high winning streak to double-digit numbers.  During their current nine-game stretch of wins, New York has raised it’s scoring average by 11.7 points per game.  That’s an impressive offensive bump from a team that already has the best defence in the league.  The Knicks are first in points allowed (104.7), field goal percentage allowed (44.2 per cent) and 3-point percentage allowed (33.7) per game.

Julius Randle has been the catalyst for this winning streak and is easily New York’s MVP this season.  Randle has scored 40 points or more twice and 30 points or more six times over the last nine games.  Even before this recent stretch, Randle has been putting up career numbers almost across the board.  Randle leads the Knicks in points (24.0), rebounds (10.5) and assists (6.0) per game.
