The San Antonio Spurs upset the Golden State Warriors with a 103-90 win on their home floor to avoid a sweep. It will be a lot tougher for them to extend the series any further with a win in Game 5 on Tuesday night. The Spurs were blown out in the first two games of the series on the road as Golden State outscored them by an average of 18.0 points in the wins. Can San Antonio possibly upset the Warriors on the road and force a Game 6?

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Golden State easily covered the spread in its first three games of the series at home. After a letdown in Game 4, the Warriors will be motivated to bounce back at home with a decisive win to book their spot in the second round.

The Spurs are just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 following a SU win of 10 or more. They are also 0-4 ATS in their last four road games against winning teams. They’ve also failed to cover their last nine road games overall.

As for the Warriors, they are 4-1 ATS in their last five following an ATS loss. They are also 26-8 in their last 34 conference quarterfinals. However, they are only 2-5 ATS in their last seven home games with the two covers coming in Games 1 and 2.

San Antonio Spurs

Some familiar faces stepped up for the Spurs in their Game 4 win to avoid the sweep. LaMarcus Aldridge led the way with 22 points and 10 rebounds while Manu Ginobili hit three-of-four shots from the field in the final quarter, including both of his three-point attempts. It was a thrilling finish for basketball fans in San Antonio. However, as inspiring as that performance was, it doesn’t necessarily inspire confidence in the Spurs heading into Game 5.

Aldridge was just seven-of-19 from the field in the Game 4 win. Meanwhile, Rudy Gay, Patty Mills and Danny Green combined to shoot just 12-of-30. San Antonio’s tough defense and a strong fourth quarter was just enough to help them squeeze out a win at home but it’s hard to imagine them winning Game 5 on the road with similar numbers.

Golden State Warriors

While the Warriors would have liked to complete the sweep, nobody on the roster seemed very worried following the Game 4 loss. For their part, Kevin Durant and company looked extremely sloppy in the defeat, so there will be plenty of room for improvement. It was the Spurs last stand and the Warriors just didn’t match their intensity.

Kevin Durant in particular admitted he needs to be better after scoring 34 points but on 12-of-28 shooting from the field. Meanwhile, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green were much worse as Thompson was four-of-16 while Green was four-of-14. That trio is too talented to struggle that badly at home in this NBA matchup.
