San Antonio Spurs vs. Minnesota Timberwolves Game 4 Prediction, NBA Odds

Anthony Edwards looked more like himself in Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinals between the Minnesota Timberwolves and San Antonio Spurs. The problem is, Victor Wembanyama looked the same.

Wemby had 39 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks as the Spurs won on the road on Friday night, 115-108, to take a 2-1 series lead. Game 4 takes place in Minneapolis on Sunday at 7:30 PM ET.

Stephon Castle added 13 points and 12 assists as San Antonio had 26 assists to just nine turnovers in the game.

Edwards had 22 of his team-high 32 points in the first half and added 14 rebounds and six assists. Naz Reid added 18 points, nine rebounds, and five assists for Minnesota.

Spurs vs. Timberwolves NBA Betting Odds

The Spurs are 4.5-point favourites for Game 4. That is slightly higher than the three points they were giving in Game 3. San Antonio is -180 on the moneyline, while the T-Wolves are +150.

The over/under sits at 217. The teams have played to the over in each of the past two games and 4 of 6 meetings this season.

San Antonio Spurs

If Wemby continues to play like this, it’s not a matter of if, but when the Spurs clinch this series. He shot 13-for-18 from the floor and 10-for-12 from the line, had 16 points in the decisive fourth quarter, and was his usual domineering presence in the paint on defence.

Jaden McDaniels and Julius Randle combined for 29 points and 13 rebounds for Minnesota, but they shot just 23.5% (8-for-34) from the field. That’s because of Wembanyama.

De’Aaron Fox added 17 points for San Antonio, and Julian Champagnie grabbed 12 boards.

Minnesota Timberwolves

It was better, but still not enough. Edwards continued to shed any doubts about his hyperextended left knee, and Ayo Dosunmu added 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists off the bench to announce his return.

The Timberwolves held a 54-48 advantage on the glass, and their bench outscored San Antonio’s, 34-27. They shot 85.7% (18-for-21) from the free-throw line and made 35% (14-for-40) of their three-point shots.

And it was still not enough. Minnesota missed its first 12 shots, although it recovered enough to even the game at 51 by halftime. But if four-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert (13 points, 7 rebounds) can’t slow Wembanyama even a little bit, it will all be for nought.

Tomorrow is a must-win for the Timberwolves. They have to get the series back to Minnesota to have any shot to advance.

NBA Prediction: Who Will Win Spurs vs. Timberwolves?

The Timberwolves adopted Edwards’ moxie in Game 3 and went toe-to-toe with San Antonio, but Minnesota simply does not have anyone who can slow Wemby down for four quarters.

And the Spurs can still do several things better, including working the glass more as a team.

This should be as tight as Game 1, when Minnesota edged the Spurs 104-102. The Timberwolves will do everything they can to slow the pace down even more, but look for San Antonio to take a 3-1 series lead with a 107-104 victory.
