Spurs vs. Raptors NBA Betting Odds

San Antonio is still a very bad team, but it has what many other teams don’t: A young franchise player in place in 7-foot-4 French rookie Victor Wembanyama, who has been as good as advertised and will win NBA Rookie of the Year honours. Wemby, who just turned 20 last month, is averaging 20.3 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and a league-best 3.1 steals. He’s even a good three-point shooter and has future MVP written all over him. Wemby simply needs a lot more help around him with the Spurs headed back for the draft lottery again.

Toronto looks for the season sweep as it was a 123-116 overtime winner in San Antonio on Nov. 5 despite 20 points, nine rebounds, five blocks and four assists from Wembanyama. The Spurs were without arguably their second-best player in guard Devin Vassell due to injury.

Scottie Barnes scored 17 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter and had 11 rebounds as Toronto overcame a 22-point deficit to force overtime. Dennis Schroder and O.G. Anunoby each had 24 points. Anunoby, of course now with the Knicks, tied it at 110 on a floater with 1.2 seconds left in regulation.

Despite losing six straight in the series overall, the Spurs still lead 35-20 and are 15-12 as the road team.

San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs lost their seventh game in a row Saturday, 123-103 in Brooklyn as defence remains a problem with the team allowing an average of 120.9 points per game. Only Detroit, Indiana, Atlanta and Washington are worse. A big part of the Nets’ win was the 15 points and 12 assists by Dennis Schroder, traded to Brooklyn from Toronto for Spencer Dinwiddie last Thursday. Victor Wembanyama had 21 points but only four rebounds. Keldon Johnson had 19 points off the bench. He started earlier in the season, but Gregg Popovich apparently prefers Johnson as a reserve. The Spurs and Raptors are tied for second in the league in assists per game at 29.2, and San Antonio – led by Wembanyama – is tied for sixth at 5.9 blocks per game. Wemby was named to the 2024 Rising Stars roster for the upcoming All-Star Game. The Spurs are 1-6 ATS in their past seven games.

Toronto Raptors

We projected the Raptors to lose by five at home to red-hot Cleveland on Saturday, but it wasn’t that close as the Cavs rolled to a 119-95 victory. They won every quarter to improve to an NBA-best 17-8 on the road. Cleveland’s 36 assists were one shy of a season-high. Scottie Barnes had 24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for his fourth career triple-double and third this season. He joined Sacramento’s Domantas Sabonis, Denver’s Nikola Jokic, Dallas’ Luka Doncic, Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo and the LA Lakers’ LeBron James as one of just six players to record three triple-doubles this season. Trade acquisitions Ochai Agbaji and Kelly Olynyk, acquired from Utah on Thursday, both made their debuts. Olynyk scored 11 points in 22 minutes and Agbaji had eight points in 20 minutes. The Toronto-born Olynyk called it “a special moment” after being greeted with a loud ovation when he checked in. The under has hit in seven straight Raptors home games.
