San Antonio Spurs vs. Detroit Pistons Prediction, NBA Odds

Nobody can beat the San Antonio Spurs or Detroit Pistons right now, so one of them will have to do it themselves when the two hottest teams in the NBA meet up Monday at 7 p.m. ET.

The Spurs have won eight straight and are pushing Oklahoma City for the top seed in the Western Conference, while the Pistons, who have won five in a row, are currently sitting atop the Eastern Conference. San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama is dominating everyone in the league; he had 28 points, 15 rebounds, six assists, and four blocks in San Antonio’s 139-122 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Saturday.

For Detroit, the 1-2 combination of Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren continues to produce top-notch results. Cunningham had 18 points, 13 assists, and nine rebounds, and Duren added 26 points and 13 rebounds in a 126-110 triumph over the Chicago Bulls on Saturday.

Detroit is a 1.5-point favourite to win on the NBA odds, with the total set at 232.5.

Spurs vs. Pistons NBA Betting Odds

Both teams are healthy coming into the first of two meetings this season. The Spurs are 7-1 against the spread during their NBA-best eight-game winning streak right now. They have won three straight on the road and are 5-1 ATS in their last six away from home.

Detroit, returning home after four straight road wins, is 5-0 straight up and against the spread during its Eastern Conference-leading five-game winning streak. San Antonio has played to the Over in six of seven games and is averaging 124 points while allowing just 110.4 in its last 10 contests. However, they still own a 24-33 record to the Over this season, while Detroit is 23-31-1 and has cashed the Under in 13 of their last 20 games.

San Antonio Spurs

It feels unfair, but the Spurs have yet another generational interior player after David Robinson and Tim Duncan. Wembanyama is averaging 24.3 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks. His 9.3 defensive rebounds per game pace a unit that leads the NBA with 35.3 per contest.

Coach Mitch Johnson has seamlessly taken over for legendary coach Gregg Popovich. The Spurs talented and youthful wave, which includes last year’s Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle (16.7 PPG, 6.8 AST) and former Kings’ standout De’Aaron Fox (19.3 PPG, 6.3 AST), has San Antonio poised for their first postseason appearance in seven years.

Detroit Pistons

Like San Antonio, Detroit has arisen from a prolonged franchise slumber. A 14-68 catastrophe in 2023/24 culminated a stretch of 13 seasons without playoffs in 15 years.

Behind stud Cunningham (25.5 PPG, 9.8 AST, 5.8 REB) and skyrocketing big man Duren (17.8 PPG, 10.5 REB), the franchise returned to the playoffs last year, but Detroit is still looking for its first postseason series victory since 2008. That, and potentially much more, should come this spring.

NBA Prediction: Who Will Win Spurs vs. Pistons?

This is just what the league needs right now, coming off another bland and dysfunctional All-Star weekend. With headlines abuzz about all of the NBA’s issues regarding tanking, it will be refreshing to see a legitimate NBA Finals preview tonight.

Very little separates these teams, so the advantage should probably go to the Pistons, who are 21-6 at home and have won seven of nine at Little Caesars Arena. However, San Antonio is surging. They recently handled the defending NBA champion Thunder by 10 points, winning four of five games in the season series against OKC. The Spurs have won five of six on the road. They’ll take this one in a close matchup as well, 119-116.
