The New York Knicks are on the verge of their first NBA title in 53 years. After shocking the Spurs in San Antonio, they look to put the vice clamp on the 2026 NBA Finals tonight at Madison Square Garden at 8:30 PM ET.

Karl-Anthony Towns had 21 points and 13 rebounds, and Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges each added 20 as New York held on after blowing a 14-point fourth-quarter lead and defeated the Spurs on Friday night, 105-104.

The victory gave the Knicks a 2-0 lead in this best-of-seven series. It was New York’s 13th straight playoff victory, the second-best streak in NBA history. In the process, the Knicks became just the third team in league history to win the first two games of the Finals on the road. The other two teams won their series.

Victor Wembanyama had 29 points and 9 rebounds for San Antonio, which fell to just 6-5 at home in the playoffs. For all the excitement this latest iteration of the Spurs has created, the team has lost eight games this postseason.

Spurs vs. Knicks NBA Finals Betting Odds

The Knicks are 2.5-point favourites at home tonight with a -130 price on the money line. San Antonio is at +110.

The Knicks are now 4-1 straight up and 5-0 against the spread versus the Spurs this season. San Antonio hasn’t won at Madison Square Garden since November 2019, a span of six games.

The over/under for Friday night is 216.5 points. These teams have played to the under by a wide margin in both games of this series.

San Antonio Spurs

The young Spurs team are going to woulda/coulda/shoulda the first two games of this series for a long time. Especially Wembanyama, who had a sparkling Game 2 overall, but made a series of mistakes at the very end.

San Antonio continues to get solid contributions from all over. De’Aaron Fox had 20 points in Game 2, followed by Devin Vassell with 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists, while Stephon Castle chipped in 14 points.

Rookie Dylan Harper had 15 points and 6 rebounds in 32 minutes off the bench. The Spurs need to find a way to integrate him further, as he has stood up well to the Knicks’ pressure.

San Antonio reports no injuries at this time.

New York Knicks

The Knicks are 6-1 at home this postseason and have won five straight. That 2-1 first-round series deficit to the Atlanta Hawks feels like eons ago.

Towns is doing exactly what he was brought over from Minnesota two years ago to do. The 11-year veteran and 6-time All-Star is averaging 19.5 points and 12.5 rebounds in two games against the Spurs. He, Brunson, and OG Anunoby, who has scored 17 points in both games of the series, have been consistently unstoppable together.

It was another statistically unremarkable game for New York, which shot just 42% (37/89) from the field, though the Knicks made 39% (15/38) of their three-point attempts.

Brunson, who injured both his right knee and left ankle in Game 1, and veteran reserve center Mitchell Robinson, who has a fractured right pinky, aren’t even on the injury report for the Knicks anymore. They’re playing.

NBA Prediction: Who Will Win Spurs vs. Knicks?

The Spurs won 62 games in the regular season. They went 30-12 on the road. They outlasted the defending NBA champion Thunder, winning twice in Oklahoma City during that series. They could still come back – but they won’t.

The Knicks feel preordained at this point. This is a special postseason, and the Knicks will continue the feel-good times with a 110-105 victory this evening.
