The Rockets are among the worst teams in the league right now as they have only been able to win two out of their last 26 games played. The Celtics can’t seem to find a way over .500 this season as they were able to win two straight games before losing their last two. Will the Rockets get a rare win or will Boston keep them miserable?
NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The numbers aren’t great for the Rockets. They’re not only losing games, they’re not even covering spreads. They are 6-20 ATS when facing a team with a losing record and 3-17 ATS after a non-conference game. There aren’t many positives to point to.
The Celtics are 1-4 straight up in their last five home games. They’ve been as a favorite, going 16-16 overall and 13-19 ATS in that role. However, they are 11-6 SU as a home favorite.
Houston Rockets
This Rockets team has been a disaster this season and it doesn’t seem like they will be turning it around anytime soon. Eric Gordon still remains out with an injury and Victor Oladipo was traded at the deadline, the man they received for getting rid of James Harden earlier in the year. As of right now, they are left with John Wall, Christian Wood and Kevin Porter Jr. as their main sources of offense. Outside of them, it is a toss-up on who will be able to contribute on either offense or defense. They are a mix of really young players and grizzled veterans who are beyond their days of stardom and that is exactly why this team is in such bad shape.
If you’re looking for a silver lining, they did finally get a win (against Toronto) three games ago and in their last game, against the Brooklyn Nets, they did lead by 17 points at one point. The Nets are the favorite to win the Championship. However, they still ended up losing that game by 12 despite once holding such a huge lead.
Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics have been one of the most inconsistent teams in the NBA this season. They have a really talented roster but are just 23-25 on the season. Worse yet, they’ve lost seven of their last 10.
The Celtics have really struggled to find a reliable center to pair up with their trio of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Kemba Walker. Both Tristan Thompson and Robert Williams III have been solid in their own ways, but just haven’t been able to get them over the hump and give the team a serious presence inside. It also doesn’t help that both of them are questionable for this matchup.
The Celtics are simply too talented to blow this one. The only question is whether they’ll cover. Tatum and Brown are going to have to put up points on high efficiency while also locking down on the defensive end if they want to win this game. It doesn’t feel like a great spot to lay the points but Boston should win.
