The Raptors visit the US capital on the heels of Monday’s decisive 113-104 home victory over New Orleans, and have now won and covered in six of their past seven contests overall. The Wizards fell deeper into the basement of the NBA standings with a 113-108 loss in Dallas on Monday that closed out a brutal six-game road trip and have now dropped 14 straight decisions including five straight on home court.

Pegged as 6.5-point favourites on the Wednesday NBA odds, the Raptors get set to hit the hardwood as road chalk for the first time since March 2024 and are favoured by more than 2.5 points for the first time this season. The Wizards trail as +200 underdogs on the NBA moneyline and the total is set at 230.5.

Raptors vs. Wizards NBA Betting Odds

Wednesday’s matchup marks the first of four regular season meetings between these clubs. The Raptors took three of four from the Wizards last season, highlighted by a decisive 132-102 win in Washington, and have knocked off the Wizards in 21 of 27 head-to-head tilts since February 2018 including straight up and against the spread victories in eight of their past 10 visits to Washington.

The Raptors are currently enjoying their most productive stretch of the season and have seen three of the wins on their current 6-1 run come by double-digit margins including a lopsided 117-94 win over Atlanta in their most recent home contest last weekend. The club has also seen two of their three wins on the road so far this season come during their current surge. Toronto has built its recent success on stingy defence, allowing an average of just 105.4 points over their past seven games after giving up 126.9 points per game during a preceding 1-9 run.

Following Monday’s beating in Dallas, there is no end in sight to the Wizards’ freefall. Washington has scored more than 100 points just twice in five games and have lost by an average margin of 19 points in their past five games.

Toronto Raptors

A re-energized Scottie Barnes has played a key role in the Raptors’ success, especially over the past week. Barnes has tallied 23.3 points per game over his past three outings and recorded double-doubles in four of his past five appearances, capped by a 21-point, 11-rebound performance versus the pelicans on Monday night. However, Barnes has also shot under 29 per cent from the field in two of his past five games and is just 2-for-12 on threes over the past two games.

RJ Barrett has also been steady, averaging 19.5 points over the past six games, and Jakob Poeltl is coming off one of his most productive nights of the season, with 21 points and 14 boards in Monday’s win.

Washington Wizards

Finding a silver lining during the Wizards’ lost season is a major challenge. The club averaged just 102 points per game and shot just 39.6 per cent from the field while getting swept on their recent six-game road trip. The Wizards have also consistently stumbled out of the gate, surrendering 30 or more points in the first quarter in four of five outings, and have trailed by an average of 17 points at halftime over that stretch.

One of the few bright spots for Washington has been Jordan Poole, who leads the squad with 21.2 points per game and has averaged 20.3 points over the past six contests. However, the club will be missing prized rookie Alex Sarr on Wednesday after suffering ankle injury in Monday’s loss to the Mavs.
