Toronto Raptors vs. Brooklyn Nets Prediction, NBA Odds
The Raptors in usual circumstances would have no right losing Sunday at the horrendous Brooklyn Nets, but Toronto is in the second of a back-to-back and starting a trip so stranger things have happened. The Dinos are-3.5 on the NBA odds with a total of 216.5.
Raptors vs. Nets NBA Betting Odds
Brooklyn is in major rebuild mode and will be tanking to land as many ping-pong balls as possible for the draft lottery as the class of 2026 is projected to be one of the best in many years and worth tanking for. The Nets are a very young team as it is after taking five players in the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft, which was not considered loaded.
So there are going to be growing pains. The team’s best player currently is forward Michael Porter Jr. , averaging a career-high 25.7 PPG. He was acquired from Denver this past July for forward Cameron Johnson and a protected 2032 first-round pick. A 2032 pick. That’s hilarious. There might be basketball on Mars by then. That deal seems to have worked out well for both sides. The team’s best pure scorer, guard Cam Thomas, has not played since early November due to a hamstring injury and still a bit away.
Sunday marks the third of four meetings between the clubs with the Nets in Toronto for the regular-season finale on April 12. The Raptors have won both this year, one home and one away, by the exact same score of 119-109. Brandon Ingram is averaging 19.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in the series, and Immanuel Quickley 18.5 points and 7.5 rebounds. Porter Jr. leads the Nets at 23.0 PPG.
Toronto is 6-4 SU & ATS in the past 10 meetings overall and the over-under is 2-8.
Toronto Raptors
Toronto had a two-game winning streak snapped Saturday in a 112-96 home loss to Boston, a not-great way to head out on a three-game road trip. There is certainly no shame in losing to the Celtics, but their best player, Jaylen Brown, was out, so not the best result for the Dinos. They were outscored by 13 in the fourth. Sandro Mamukelashvili scored a season-high 24 points in a losing effort. But Immanuel Quickley had one of his worst games as a pro, shooting 1-for-12 to finish with three points. The Raptors set a season-high with 47 attempts from 3-point range but made only 16. Centre Jakob Poeltl missed a second in a row with a back issue. He’s questionable Sunday. The Raptors don’t have a lot of size when he’s out and are now 4-5 this season without Poeltl compared to 13-7 when he plays. RJ Barrett remains out. Toronto is 2-9 ATS in its past 11.
Brooklyn Nets
The Nets are playing better, having won four of seven, but didn’t look great last time out on Thursday, losing 106-95 at home to Miami, which entered on a five-game skid. Want to know the modern-day NBA? Just hoist up 3-pointers like the end of the world is coming. The Nets jacked up a whopping 49 of them against the Heat but made only 11. Michael Porter Jr. scored 28 points in the loss and is one of only five qualified players this year averaging at least 25.0 points and 7.0 rebounds. He is second in the NBA with 30 3-pointers made in December. We told you above that the Nets had five first-round picks in the 2025 draft. They took Michigan centre Danny Wolf at No. 27 and that might be a steal. Wolf is second among rookies with a +7.1 net rating and is third (minimum 15 minutes played per game) with a 97.3 defensive rating. The Nets are second in the NBA with a 105.0 defensive rating in December behind all-world Oklahoma City (102.2). So that’s why the rather low total. Bit too low for my tastes. The under is 11-2 in Brooklyn’s past 13.
