Raptors vs. Nets NBA Betting Odds

This is a completely meaningless game other than for possible NBA Draft lottery purposes are both clubs are eliminated from Eastern Conference play-in tournament contention. The Nets figure to be a pretty active team this offseason as they have to decide whether interim coach Kevin Ollie deserves the full-time job and also decide on what their core actually is.

That core probably involves Mikal Bridges and Cam Thomas, but Brooklyn also has a lot of upcoming draft capital – will owe its 2024 first-round pick to Houston, however — so it could make a fairly big trade if necessary. The Nets surely would love to off-load injury-prone former No. 1 overall pick Ben Simmons, but good luck getting rid of that contract.

Brooklyn leads the season series 2-1 and won the most recent matchup 96-88 at Scotiabank Arena on March 25 behind 19 points and seven assists from ex-Raptors point guard Dennis Schroder. Toronto was very short-handed per usual that night. It leads the all-time series 61-50 but trails 30-25 on the road and has dropped its past three at the Barclays Center. The Nets are 7-3 ATS in the past 10 meetings overall.

Toronto Raptors

Toronto is 11-27 on the road this season as it finishes with three straight away games. This is the last of a back-to-back this year for the Raptors, who are 3-10 in the second half. The Raptors rested Immanuel Quickley and sat rookie Gradey Dick with a minor injury in the home finale Tuesday and got pummeled 140-123 by Indiana to finish 14-27 at Scotiabank Arena and snap a two-game winning streak. RJ Barrett led the team with 30 points – wouldn’t shock if he sat out the second of a back-to-back – while Kelly Olynyk had 22 points, and in the big surprise, 24-year-old rookie Javon Freeman-Liberty had a career-high 20 points in a rare starting role. It was Barrett’s seventh straight game scoring at least 20 points, a career-best streak. Quickley should play Wednesday, but Dick is day-to-day. Toronto is 3-11 ATS in its past 14.

Brooklyn Nets

Almost every team that is in action Wednesday also played Tuesday as the NBA crams in as many games as possible this final week of the regular season. Brooklyn, though, is rare team that isn’t playing the second of a back-to-back. It’s the home finale for the Nets, who are 19-21 at Barclays Center. They were recently eliminated from Eastern Conference play-in contention and listing Dorian Finney-Smith as out, and Cam Johnson and Nic Claxton as probable. Cam Thomas has 14 games this season with at least 30 points, the second-most for a Net age 22 and under in a season in franchise history, trailing only Bernard King in 1977-78 (22). Since the beginning of March, Thomas is seventh in the league in ppg (26.5 ppg) and is fifth in the East. In 28 games with Brooklyn, trade acquisition Dennis Schroder has had seven games with at least five rebounds and five assists. He did so six times in 51 games with Toronto this season. The Nets are 1-4 ATS in their past five.
