It’s the second of a back-to-back for the Toronto Raptors on Thursday and their final road game of the season.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

We should say this is Toronto’s final true road game of the year, as one could argue they played only road games this season with none at Scotiabank Arena.

The Mavericks could also choose to rest some key guys depending on their motivation in the Western Conference playoff race. While Dallas is in the playoffs, it’s really not a threat to win the West even with how good young superstar Luka Doncic is.

Toronto goes for the season sweep as on Jan. 18 in Tampa, Fla., the Raptors were 116-93 winners. They outscored Dallas by 23 in the second half. Kyle Lowry had 23 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, Chris Boucher had 21 points and 10 rebounds, and OG Anunoby finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds while playing excellent defence on Doncic, who was just 4-for-11 for 15 points in one of his worst games of the season. The Mavs were outscored by 10 points with him on the court.

The Raptors are 8-2 in the past 10 meetings but just 4-6 against the spread. Doncic is averaging 24.5 points, 9.8 rebounds and 7.5 assists in four career games against Toronto.

Toronto Raptors

I’d like to tell you who will play in this game for the Dinos, but we have no clue. In Toronto’s fifth straight defeat Thursday, 114-102 in Chicago, Pascal Siakam, Fred VanVleet, Kyle Lowry, OG Anunoby and Gary Trent Jr. all sat. We’d guess they do here. The saga of Chris Boucher was an odd one. Boucher was originally listed as out, then upgraded to questionable before then being listed as available. And then he got a DNP-CD. Yuta Watanabe appeared to injure his ankle and didn’t return.

The clear bright spot Thursday was Stanley Johnson erupting for a career-high 35 points as well as 10 rebounds, five assists, three steals and zero turnovers in 43 minutes. Pretty sure he will play in this game. Ditto rookie Jalen Harris, who had a career-high 17 points.

Dallas Mavericks

The Mavs should play their key guys here because they can clinch no worse than sixth in the West with a victory and avoid the play-in tournament. That way, Dallas could rest its starters in the season finale if need be. The Mavs come off a 125-107 home win over very short-handed New Orleans on Wednesday, which eliminated the Pelicans from playoff contention. Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic had 33 points and eight assists and should be named first-team All-NBA. Tim Hardaway Jr. added 27 points, and Kristaps Porzingis had 19 points after missing seven games due to injury.

Depending on matchups/injuries, Canadian big man Dwight Powell starts at times and did in that one, finishing with 12 points and eight rebounds. The Mavericks are 17-7 all-time at home against Toronto.
