NBA: Orlando Magic at Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors look to halt their descent towards the bottom of the NBA standings when they open a three-game road trip on Wednesday with a visit to Madison Square Garden to take on the slumping New York Knicks.

The Raptors hit the road after getting outclassed in a 128-104 loss to Milwaukee on Monday night that marks their 13th defeat in 14 games. The Knicks are coming off a 103-94 loss to the visiting Orlando Magic, extending their current overall losing streak to three games.

The Knicks have vaulted to lofty 11.5-point home favourites on the Wednesday NBA odds. The Raptors are pegged as lengthy +450 underdogs on the NBA moneyline and the total is listed at 231.5.

Raptors vs. Knicks NBA Betting Odds

After showing signs of turning the corner on a shaky start with five wins in eight games in late November and early December, the Raptors have slipped into free-fall, going 1-13 in their past 14 games and covering the spread just once in their past seven outings, withy their past six losses coming by an average margin of 26.5 points.

Now leading Washington by just one game in the race for last place overall, the Raptors arrive on broad way sporting a league-worst 1-15 road record and have lost six straight to the Knicks including three straight defeat at MSG while allowing 133.7 points per game.

However, the Raptors now visit a Knicks team that is coming off three straight bad beats, capped by outright losses to Chicago and Orlando as betting chalk and covered the spread in just two of their past six home dates.

Toronto Raptors

The Raptors were doomed by yet another slow start in Monday’s loss to the Bucks. The club mustered just 19 points in the first quarter and have now scored an average of just 20.3 points in the first 12 minutes over the past four games. Last week’s 130-113 win over Brooklyn marks the only game in their past five outings in which the Raptors have held a lead after the first quarter.

The club has also been regularly beaten up on the road, allowing 132.8 points per game during a 0-5 run. Scottie Barnes and RJ Barrett remain the lone consistent producers on the Toronto attack. Barnes has averaged 24.7 points over his past three games and tallied 24 points when the Raptors visited MSG last month. Barrett has averaged 26.5 points in two dates with New York this season and has topped 20 points in five of his past seven outings.

New York Knicks

The Knicks have struggled to generate consistent offence during their three-game slide, averaging just 109 points per games, and the loss to Karl-Anthony Towns to injury has not helped matters. Towns’ status for Wednesday remains uncertain after the big man missed Monday’s loss to Orlando due to a knee injury.

If Towns is unable to go, look for Jalen Brunson to lead the attack. Brunson scored 24 points in Monday’s loss and has averaged 30.4 points over his past five games thanks to an epic 55-point performance in the Knicks’ 136-132 overtime win in Washington on December 28. However, Brunson has averaged just 17.5 points per game in his past four home outings including a meagre 12-point outing when the raptors visited last month.
