Off a disappointing loss in Philadelphia on Friday, the Toronto Raptors look to avoid a bit of a trap game Sunday as they play the first of two straight in Charlotte.

Raptors vs. Hornets NBA Betting Odds

The Hornets are the last non-playoff team the Raptors will see this season, and they play again in Charlotte on Tuesday to conclude the season series. They also played a baseball-type series in Toronto on Jan. 10 & 12, and the Raptors won both high-scoring matchups by double digits.

Pascal Siakam averaged 31.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.0 assist in the two, Gary Trent Jr. 18.5 points, and OG Anunoby 18.6 points. Toronto averaged 128.0 points. LaMelo Ball leads the Hornets in averaging 28.0 points and 10.5 assists but the terrific young point guard was lost for the season weeks ago. Terry Rozier averaged 27.0 points and 5.0 assists, and Mason Plumlee 18.5 points and 11.0 rebounds but has since been traded to the LA Clippers.

Charlotte leads the all-time series 47-44 and is 28-15 at home. Toronto is 4-1 ATS in the past five meetings overall.

Toronto Raptors

Toronto’s three-game winning streak ended Friday in a 117-110 defeat at Philadelphia. The Sixers didn’t have Tobias Harris, but the Raptors didn’t have Gary Trent Jr. and he’s questionable Sunday. Philly couldn’t miss in the first half (30-for-39 from field) and Toronto couldn’t make (2-for-14 on three-pointers) and that dug a hole the Raptors couldn’t quite climb out of. Scottie Barnes continued his recent spectacular play with 29 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and four steals. It was his 10th game this season with at least 20 points, five rebounds and five assists, tying Barnes with Chris Bosh (2005-06) for the most in a season by a Raptor aged 21-or-younger. The Raptors have held opponents to an average of 109.3 points since the All-Star break, third-best in the league. They are 4-9 ATS in their past 13 on the road.

Charlotte Hornets

The Hornets gave up on this season weeks ago as they tank to try and improve their draft lottery standing. Thus, it’s hard to know which good players are available in a given game. Charlotte actually had won three in a row but was clobbered by 30 at home by Chicago on Friday. Terry Rozier, Gordon Hayward, Kelly Oubre Jr., Cody Martin and Dennis Smith Jr. were all out. Solid young forward PJ Washington sprained his ankle in the loss, so he’s surely out Sunday with no reason to risk it. Svi Mykhailiuk was the lone Hornets starter to finish in double figures against the Bulls, scoring 16 points. He saw action in 56 games last year with Toronto. The Hornets are 9-3 ATS in their past 12 Sunday games.
