Raptors vs. Grizzlies NBA Betting Odds

It would have been much better for Toronto to have played the season series with Memphis in the Grizzlies’ first 25 games this season because they were without All-Star guard Ja Morant, arguably a Top 5 talent in the league, due to suspension for off-the-court issues. He’s back now and the Grizzlies are obviously a much different team with him in the lineup, although perhaps not good enough to win the West without some trade help in the frontcourt.

Centre Steven Adams was lost to a season-ending injury before it began and forward Brandon Clarke, a Vancouver native, is working his way back from a serious injury. He hopes to be back around the All-Star break. The Grizz do have two former NBA Defensive Players of the Year in guard Marcus Smart and big man Jaren Jackson Jr.

These teams split last season, each winning on the road. Morant played in one of the two and had 19 points and 17 assists. Toronto still leads the all-time series 28-26 and is 13-13 as the road team despite winning the past five. The Raptors are 7-3 SU and ATS in the past 10 meetings overall.

Toronto Raptors

We projected the Raptors to beat the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers by two points on Monday and they won by three, 124-121, to snap a two-game skid. Pascal Siakam had 36 points to lead six Dinos in double figures. Trade acquisitions RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley both made their Toronto debuts and both started (only the 28th start of Quickley’s NBA career as he was generally New York’s Sixth Man). Barrett had 19 points and nine rebounds and is already a fan favourite as a Mississauga native, while Quickley had 14 points and six rebounds. Barrett is the eighth Canadian to play for the Raptors, but arguably the first to be part of the team in his prime. That was Toronto’s final home game before the Feb. 8 Trade Deadline. Scottie Barnes scored his 3,000th career NBA point Monday. At 22 years, 153 days, Barnes became the second youngest Raptor and needed the third-fewest games (184) to reach the milestone. In his last five games, Barnes is averaging 24.8 points, 10.2 rebounds and 5.4 assists. Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic served as an assistant coach for the Grizzlies for three seasons (2020-23).

Memphis Grizzlies

Memphis snapped a three-game losing streak with a 106-98 victory over San Antonio on Tuesday, but at least that was home for the Grizzlies so they didn’t have to travel for this second of a back-to-back. Ja Morant had 26 points and 10 assists – and a fourth-quarter poster dunk over Spurs stellar rookie Victor Wembanyama. Morant did leave right before halftime with a knee issue but returned. That’s something to watch regarding the Grizzlies potentially resting him tonight. Desmond Bane added 24 points and is having his best season. Bane has scored at least 20 points in six of his last eight games and is averaging 24.8 points while shooting 50.3 per cent from the field in that span. Backup point guard Derrick Rose probably sits this one out as he left Tuesday due to left thigh soreness. We are predicting as if Morant plays but like the Raptors if he doesn’t.
