The Toronto Raptors play their penultimate road game of the regular season when they visit Boston for a Sunday matinee in what could be a first-round Eastern Conference playoff preview. The Celtics are -9.5 on the NBA odds with a total of 220.5.

The chase for the Eastern Conference title got a lot more interesting a couple of weeks ago when Celtics All-Star Jayson Tatum, easily a Top 10 player in the league, returned earlier than expected from a torn right Achilles’ tendon suffered in May 2025 in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the New York Knicks.
It was never a sure thing that Tatum would play this season and in fact Boston somewhat took a gap year by trading away some key guys in the off-season. But Tatum already is looking like the five-time All-NBA pick that he is. All due respect to Detroit, which will finish as the East’s No. 1 seed, but Boston is now the team to beat in the conference and is the +170 favourite.
The Celtics are all but locked into the East’s No. 2 seed in the playoffs, so Toronto would only face them in Round 1 if the Raptors come out of the Play-In Tournament as the overall No. 7. That’s possible as the Dinos sit sixth, a half-game up on No. 7 Philadelphia.
Boston eyes the season sweep and won each of the first three by at least eight points despite not having Tatum for any. Fellow All-Star Jaylen Brown is averaging 27.5 PPG in the series and Payton Pritchard 25.0 PPG. In the past 10 meetings overall, the C’s are 9-1 SU and 6-4 ATS. The over-under is 4-6.

Toronto started this two-game trip with a 128-96 blowout win at tanking Memphis on Friday to snap a two-game skid. It was the Raptors’ fifth win by at least 30 points this season, their second-most in a campaign. The Dinos outscored the Grizzlies 21-5 in fast-break points and league the lead in that category at 18.9 per game. RJ Barrett led the way with 25 points. He has scored at least 20 in four straight games, shooting 51.6 per cent from the field. Rookie Collin Murray-Boyles added 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting. He led a bench group that totalled 61 points. Brandon Ingram returned after missing a game for rest and had 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Guard Immanuel Quickley was out again with a foot injury and remains without a timetable to return. Toronto is 8-4 ATS in its past 12.
Boston Celtics
Boston finished a four-game trip at 3-1 following a 133-10 blowout win at tanking Milwaukee on Friday. Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum combined for 49 points. Tatum was an assist shy of his second straight triple-double despite sitting out the fourth quarter. The Celtics have come out scorching hot lately, scoring 53 points in the first quarter of Wednesday’s win in Miami and then 43 on Friday, the most allowed in a first quarter this season by the Bucks. The Celtics’ big trade acquisition at the deadline was centre Nikola Vucevic from the Bulls. Vucevic underwent surgery to stabilize a fracture in his right ring finger in early March and hasn’t played since but might today listed questionable. Boston has won eight in a row at home in this series, last losing there on Oct. 22, 2021.
