L.A.’s first of a four game home stand will be a rematch with the Detroit Pistons on Saturday.  The Pistons pulled out a surprise victory in the first meeting between these teams this season, but it’s the Lakers that are 14-point favourites to win on the NBA odds in this one.  The total is 214.0.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Detroit has been surprisingly good against the Lakers in the recent past.  The Pistons have won six of their last nine games against L.A., including a 107-92 win on January 28.  Detroit is 10-10-2 against the spread for the season and has hit the Over in 12 of 22 games.

With the amount of firepower on the Lakers’ roster, it’s a little surprising they have missed the Over in seven of their last eight games, including five straight.  For the season, L.A. has hit the Over in just seven of 23 games.  The Lakers are 12-11 ATS, covering four times at home and eight times on the road.

Detroit Pistons

It’s been a disaster season on the road for Detroit.  After dropping a 109-92 decision in Phoenix on Friday, the Pistons have now lost all three games on the current road trip.  Detroit has trailed by 20 points or more in all three games and have fallen to 1-10 on the road for the season.  Jerami Grant led the way again against the Suns, finishing with a team-high 21 points.  Through 22 games Grant is averaging 23.6 points (team-high), 5.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.2 blocks (team-high).  Isaiah Stewart tied a career high with 10 points and 10 rebounds off the bench on Friday for his second career double-double.  Detroit shot 37 per cent from the floor and 61 per cent from the free throw line, but hit just 19 per cent from beyond the arc.

Los Angeles Lakers

LeBron James made history in L.A.’s third straight win.  James moved into third place on the NBA’s career field goal list during the Lakers’ 114-93 win over Denver on Thursday.  It was the 96th career triple-double for James, who finished with 27 points (game-high), 10 rebounds and 10 assists.  The other L.A. superstar, Anthony Davis, was fairly quiet by his standards on Thursday. Davis had 13 points and nine rebounds, while Dennis Schroder put up 21 points.  Kentavious Caldwell-Pope twisted his ankle in the first half of the Denver game, but returned for the second half and is expected to play on Saturday.
