Detroit Pistons vs. New York Knicks Game 5 Prediction, NBA Playoff Odds
The Nnicks eked out a narrow 94-93 comeback victory in Detroit on Sunday and now enjoy a commanding 3-1 series lead. The loss extends the Pistons’ lengthening playoff woes, with the club now facing elimination in the opening round for the fourth time in as many postseason appearances since 2008 while compiling a dismal 1-15 record over that stretch.
The Knicks lead the way as 5.5-point favourites on Tuesday’s NBA odds and are pegged as massive -5000 chalk on the NBA playoff series prices. The Pistons are +180 underdogs in Tuesday’s bid to extend the series and lag as a distant +1600 bet to rebound and claim the series win. The total is listed at 214.5.
Pistons vs. Knicks NBA Betting Odds
After a pair of hard fought battles in Detroit, the scene shifts back to Broadway for Tuesday’s contest. The Knicks claimed a pair of victories in the Motor City, with those contests getting settled by a combined margin of just three points. However, the Pistons could have evened the series in Game 4 were it not for a missed foul call by the referees as time expired.
The question now is how much fight will be left in the Pistons after such a disheartening defeat on home hardwood. The Pistons have enjoyed some recent success when visiting MSG, winning three of their past four, including a 100-94 victory in Game 2, and sport a respectable 5-2-1 record against the spread over their past eight in New York.
The Knicks enter Game 5 looking to build on a solid 13-6 run at home in playoff action but have compiled a middling 3-6 record in their past nine when poised to clinch a series win.
Detroit Pistons
The Pistons had their chances to win in Game 4, building an 11-point lead in the final frame before rapidly fading in the dying minutes. Overall, the Pistons have now lost nine of their past 12 including four of six on the road and are also 1-3 ATS in this series and 3-9 ATS during their current swoon.
However, Cade Cunningham has remained a model of consistency. The former first overall pick once again led the Pistons attack in Game 4, tallying a team-high 25 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists that marks his first triple-double of the postseason and the fifth time in as many games he has produced at least a double-double. Cunningham is listed as a -165 wager on the NBA player props to record another double-double on Tuesday and is a +600 bet to tally consecutive triple-doubles for the first time since November.
New York Knicks
Not surprisingly, Jalen Brunson once again emerged as the Knicks’ top performer in Game 4. Brunson dropped a game-high 32 points to go along with 11 assists while recording his first double-double of the series and has now averaged 33.3 points and 8.8 helpers through the first four games of the series.
Karl-Anthony Towns also turned in another big performance. Powered by a game-best five three-pointers, Towns finished the contest with 27 points and nine rebounds. However, he has averaged just 19.2 points per game in his past five appearances on home court, capped by a disappointing 10-point performance in New York’s 100-94 loss in Game 2.
