On the road and playing for the second time in as many days, Detroit will have its hands full against a powerhouse Bucks team that is led by back-to-back MVP winner, Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Despite a 3-3 start to the season, the Bucks have blown out opponents by at least 30 points in each of those three wins. Sitting on two days rest and playing the second game of a five-game home stand, Milwaukee opened as 14-point favourites over the Pistons on the NBA odds.
NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Milwaukee has terrorized the Pistons over the last three years, picking up 11 straight wins, including playoff games, and haven’t dropped a game to Detroit since February 2018. The Bucks swept the season series, last year, never letting the Pistons get within 14 points on the final scoreboard.
Over the last few years Detroit hasn’t even looked like they are in the same league as the Bucks. The Pistons are 0-1-1 ATS in their last six games in Milwaukee and just 2-3 ATS, this season.
When the Bucks have won, this year, they’ve blown out opponents. Milwaukee is 3-3 ATS this season and has hit the over in four of their six games.
Detroit Pistons
At 1-5 it’s been a tough start to the season for Detroit. It looked like things might change on Sunday against a talented Boston team, but a last second jumper gave the Pistons their fifth loss on the year, 122-120. Jerami Grant continued his strong year with a team-high 22 points in the loss, while Svi Mykhailiuk broke out of his early season scoring slump with 15 points in 15 minutes played.
Detroit suffered a big blow when Josh Jackson left the game with an ankle injury in the second half. Jackson was one of the only consistent players for the Pistons this season, averaging 16 points and 5.2 rebounds on 49.2 per cent shooting from the floor. Jackson put up 13 points before he left, but it’s unclear how serious his ankle injury is, or if he’ll be able to play on Monday.
Milwaukee Bucks
The Bucks prioritized three-point shooting in the off-season and it has paid off. Not only did they make an NBA record 29 three-pointers against Miami last week, their 43.9 per cent accuracy from three-point range leads the league. That number is in large part due to Donte DiVincenzo’s 63.3 per cent accuracy from beyond the arc, while off-season additions Jrue Holiday, Bryn Forbes and Bobby Portis have provided crucial depth. The trio of Holiday, Forbes and Portis came up big in the Bucks 126-96 rout of the Bulls on Friday, combining to go 9-of-14 beyond the arc.
Reigning two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo finished two assists shy of his second straight triple double on Friday, finishing with 29 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists. Antetokounmpo leads the Bucks in points per game, averaging 23.5, and rebounds per game, averaging 11.7. Milwaukee has been running through the Central Division in recent years. Since the start of the 2018-19 season, the Bucks are 28-3 against Central Division opponents, including 13-1, last season.
