The San Antonio Spurs have found different ways to win two of their first three games in their Western Conference Quarterfinals matchup with the Denver Nuggets. Now they have a chance to push Denver to the brink of elimination with a victory in Game 4.

The Nuggets offence struggled down the stretch of the regular season and it’s carried over into the playoffs. They’re averaging just 106.0 points per game in this series and unless their stars come to life in Game 4, they’ll find themselves backed into a 3-1 corner.

NBA Playoffs Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Denver went 20-22 on the road in the regular season but they are just 2-5 against the spread in their last seven road games. The good news is that the Spurs are just 1-5 ATS in their last six at home.

The Spurs went 33-9 at AT&T Center during the regular season. San Antonio is 4-1 against the spread in its last five conference quarterfinal games. They’re also 6-2-1 in their last nine against teams with a winning record.

Denver Nuggets

The Nuggets struggled mightily with consistency from the field in Game 4. Jamal Murray and Will Barton both went two-of-six from the field, combining for just 10 points.  Gary Harris went four-of-14, finishing with 12 points.

Murray is clearly the key to this team’s success but he’s been very spotty in this series. He is shooting just 38.4% from the field and outside of an incredible fourth quarter in Game 2, has been a disaster for this team.

Nikola Jokic led the way for Denver at the offensive end with 22 points and it looks like he’ll have to shoulder even more of the load. This team needs some kind of spark and it may have to come from a different rotation. The plus-minus numbers for the Nuggets starting five are nothing short of pathetic as each one of them was at least a -32. There were some positives off the bench like Torrey Craig (+25), Monte Morris (+17) and Malik Beasley (+13), so the Nuggets may have to look to some of these guys. Their starters are getting whipped.

San Antonio Spurs

San Antonio could and probably should be up 3-0 in this series. If it wasn’t for a blown 19-point lead in Game 2, this could very well be an elimination game. After the big letdown effort in Game 2, though, the Spurs rebounded with a relatively easy win in Game 4.

The team just isn’t having to face any resistance when they’re on offence. They’ve shot at least 45.3% from the field in every game. They’re getting balanced production as Derrick White exploded for 36 points in Game 3, going 15-from-21 from the floor. The good news for the Spurs is that DeMar DeRozan, LaMarcus Aldridge and even Rudy Gay have all shown flashes so far in this series.

As for the Nuggets, their offence is a mess. Denver actually shot 51.9% from the field in Game 2 and 51.7% from three, but still lost the game by 10 points. It’s hard to see them playing much better than that. Bet the Spurs to win here.
