The Lakers remain the NBA’s lone winless team on the season and they’ll get their sixth bid for a victory when they host the 4-2 Nuggets on Sunday.
Denver’s riding a two-game win streak that started with the Lakers at home last Wednesday and continued with a 16-point win over Utah Friday. The Lakers are returning for four straight outings at home, last playing at Minnesota Friday and falling 111-102.
Tip-off at Crypto.com Arena starts at 9:30 p.m. EDT with Denver a 3.5-point favourite on the road and the over-under at 220.5 on the NBA odds.
Nuggets vs. Lakers NBA Betting Odds
Not only are the Lakers looking for their first actual win this season, they’re still without a win against the spread too. Los Angeles has been favoured just once this season, while the Nuggets are 3-2 as the favourite so far. Denver’s started out 3-3 ATS and the over-under is also 3-3 in their six contests. The under is 4-1 in the Lakers’ five games, and has hit 15 times in their last 20 games versus opponents in the Northwest Division.
Denver covered and the under hit when these teams met in Colorado last Wednesday, the Nuggets winning 110-99 behind a game-high 31 points by Nikola Jokić who also came up one assist shy of a triple-double.
Denver Nuggets
Jokić is again leading Denver in all of points, rebounds, assists, and steals. He’s nearly averaging a triple-double with 20.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 8.8 assists per night and has two triple-doubles on the season. After Jokić the Nuggets scoring more of less comes via committee, with six other players averaging in the teens for points per game.
Denver got a season-high 26 points from Bones Hyland off the bench in their win versus Utah Friday. Hyland knocked down seven threes to double his total from the entire season. Jokić was limited to just 12 points in 25 minutes of action, but got a double-double with 10 rebounds.
Los Angeles Lakers
Los Angeles ranks dead last in points per game, scoring 102.2 per night. The Lakers are also the only team shooting under 42 per cent from the field, and are by far the league’s worst three-point shooting squad with 23.7 per cent of their attempts going in. They’re also one of three teams averaging at least 16 turnovers, as all of the above highlight their current problems.
LeBron James and Anthony Davis are each scoring 24 points a night for this Lakers team but then regular shooters like Russell Westbrook, Troy Brown Jr., and Kendrick Nunn are hovering around 30 per cent from the field. Westbrook’s averaging 12 points a night while making two of his 16 three-point attempts this season, as his start to his season is the slowest of all.
