Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets have been the Lakers’ recent boogeyman with wins in 11 straight matchups and comebacks in all three victories in the series so far. L.A.’s surrendered both halftime leads and double-digit leads in all three games.

No NBA team has ever come from behind to win a series after trailing 3-0. That accomplishment would put the feather in the cap of LeBron James being basketball’s G.O.A.T, although the problem is James and Anthony Davis are doing just about all they can. Denver’s second-half surges are doing the Lakers in and so far they have no answer.

Tip-off for Game 4 at Crypto.com Arena goes at 8:30 p.m. EDT with the Nuggets -165 to close out the series with a sweep and the over-under at 218.5 on the NBA odds.

Nuggets vs. Lakers NBA Playoff Betting Odds

For all the LeBron believers, a Lakers in seven result is +5000. It’s far-fetched to begin with, and even more so when considering who’s on the other side in Denver. The Nuggets are not only 11-0 in their last 11 with L.A. but 7-1 ATS in their last eight meetings and a perfect 5-0 ATS in their last five contests at Crypto.com Arena.

The total was right on the money in Game 3 with 217 points, potentially hitting the over for the first time this series depending on what line you bet it at. Both teams attempted 90 field goals in Game 3 and for the Lakers it was the first time this series they got over 80 shots off. With desperation kicking in, you can only expect L.A. to pick up their tempo even more.

Denver Nuggets

Offensive contributions outside of Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray is typically what puts this Nuggets squad over the top and into championship caliber, and that’s been on full display this series. Aaron Gordon dropped a playoff career-high 29 points to go with 15 rebounds in Game 3, while Michael Porter Jr. is averaging over 20 a night with nearly four threes per game.

The Nuggets eventually have to figure out their first-half struggles this post-season and it starts with playing stronger defence out the gate. Denver’s allowed a minimum of 28 points in every first quarter this season and 33 points twice and have yet to cover a first quarter or first half spread.

Los Angeles Lakers

If the spotlight wasn’t already on L.A.’s secondary scoring it’s shining bright now. D’Angelo Russell totalled zero points in Game 3 on seven field goal attempts, six coming from three-point range. Anthony Davis dominated with 33 points and 10 rebounds, LeBron followed up with 26 points and nine rebounds, Austin Reaves got to 22 points, and then Russell and Rui Hachimura rounded out the Lakers starting five by combining for five points.

The Lakers only converted on five of 27 three-point attempts in Game 3 which has played a large role in allowing Denver back into not only this game but this series. L.A.’s gotten essentially nothing from their bench all post-season, secondary scoring is inconsistent, and barring a LeBron miracle his 21st season will end in disappointment.
