After getting spanked in back-to-back games, the Nuggets have to get it together and they better do it quickly. Game 4 seems like a last stand for them and if they don’t have answers, their season is going to be pushed to the brink.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Denver is now the underdog in this matchup after getting blown out in their last two games. The oddsmakers are losing faith. The Nuggets are 1-12 ATS this season and 9-4 ST as a dog. However, they are 17-8 in avenging a loss to an opponent.

Utah is 15-4 after winning by 10 or more points. They are also 38-18 when they are a favorite this season but just 23-30 ATS.

Denver Nuggets

It’s hard to find any positives to take away from Game 3 for the Nuggets. They didn’t shoot the ball that well, they had 17 turnovers and every player outside of Bol Bol had a negative plus-minus. This team has to play better and they have the talent to do so, they just need more defensive communication. The Jazz were able to do practically whatever they wanted to do on the offensive end and the Nuggets had no answer the entire night. The question is can they make a significant change in just two days? The Nuggets have now allowed 124 points or more in eight of their last nine games as their defense has been abysmal. The Atlanta Hawks allowed the most points-per-game this season but they were actually nearly five points better – yes, better – than that 124-point average. The Jazz have hit that mark in all three games in this series.

One area where the Nuggets should improve is offense. They only scored 87 points in Game 3 and their leading scorer was Nikola Jokic with only 15 points. Guys like Jamal Murray and Paul Millsap should do better. The issue is the Nuggets look like they’re having chemistry issues and other than Jokic and Murray, it’s hard to know who they can rely upon. A big game from those two is a must plus a third like Michael Porter Jr., Millsap or someone else if they’re to earn the win.

Utah Jazz

Utah finally got their starting point guard back in Mike Conley after he left the bubble to witness the birth of his child. It seemed like he didn’t miss a beat either as he scored 27 points and shot seven-of-eight from three-point range. The seven threes were a career playoff-high. He was able to take this team to a whole different gear and dominate the Nuggets. Other notable performances from Jazz players was Donovan Mitchell scoring 20 and Rudy Gobert notching a double-double with 24 points and 14 rebounds.

The Jazz have just been the better team through the past two games and have all of the momentum in the world after their 37-point victory. If they continue to play at this level, this series may be over very soon.
