NFL Week 6 Predictions: Best Picks Against the Spread

There’s another London game with a Sunday morning start time around the NFL this week as well as two games on Monday night. Teams on the bye are Minnesota and Houston.

Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants, Thursday

To no surprise, the Eagles swept this NFC East rivalry last season and have won seven of the past eight in the series. Philly is 4-1 this year but something seems a bit off, especially after blowing a 17-3 fourth-quarter home lead to Denver on Sunday and losing 21-17. The Eagles have now been outgained in every game this season and are averaging only 4.4 yards per play. The Giants are 1-1 since making the change to rookie Jaxson Dart at QB. He had two TD passes in Sunday’s loss at winless New Orleans but also three turnovers. That’s what rookie QBs do.

Pick ATS: New York (alt +7.5)

Denver Broncos “at” New York Jets

Sunday morning 9:30 a.m. ET kickoff from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Denver flew from the East Coast on Sunday after a stunning 21-17 win in Philadelphia on Sunday, rallying from down 17-3 in the fourth as Sean Payton called a gutsy 2-point try late. It was only the second win in Broncos history when down at least 14 points entering the fourth. The Jets are the NFL’s only winless team and embarrassed themselves in a 37-22 home loss to Dallas on Sunday. New York is the first team in the league without a takeaway through five games since at least 1940.

Pick ATS: New York

Arizona Cardinals at Indianapolis Colts

If Arizona misses the playoffs by one game, circle Sunday’s shocking 22-21 home defeat to previously winless Tennessee as the Cards were up 21-6 in the fourth. Emari Demercado looked as if he had run for a game-sealing 72-yard touchdown run for a 28-6 lead with 12:51 left, but on review it was ruled he dropped the ball celebrating just before reaching the end zone. It was ruled a fumble out of the back of the end zone for a touchback and the Titans began their rally. The Colts continue to surprise as they blasted the Raiders on Sunday, 40-6. Indy has now scored on 65 per cent of its drives this season, the highest rate by any team through five games this century.

Pick ATS: Indianapolis

Los Angeles Chargers at Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins took QB Tua Tagovailoa at No. 5 overall in the 2020 NFL Draft and the Chargers selected Justin Herbert at No. 6. Advantage Chargers so far, although neither has sniffed a Super Bowl. Los Angeles might be good enough this year to get there, but Miami definitely is not. The Chargers have looked bad in back-to-back losses, however, as their offensive line is really banged up and now good-looking rookie running back Omarion Hampton might miss time. Miami blew an early 17-0 lead in Carolina on Sunday in a 27-24 loss. The Dolphins had just 19 rush yards, their fewest in 10 years.

Pick ATS: Miami

New England Patriots at New Orleans Saints

The rebuilding Patriots got their first signature win of the Mike Vrabel coaching era on Sunday night with a 23-20 upset in Buffalo on a last-second field goal. The 3-2 start is New England’s best since 2019, which was the franchise’s last without Tom Brady. The Pats were 2-7 on the road last season and already have matched that away win total. The Saints got their first win Sunday by forcing five Giants turnovers in a 26-14 victory. It snapped the Saints’ eight-game skid overall and 20-game skid when trailing in a game by 10 points at any time.

Pick ATS: New Orleans

Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers

Pittsburgh is off its bye week as it opted to take it like most teams do after a trip overseas as the Steelers beat Minnesota, 24-21, in Ireland in Week 4. Pittsburgh had six sacks of Vikings QB Carson Wentz and picked him off twice. Cleveland gave rookie third-round pick Dillon Gabriel his first NFL start on Sunday and the lefty played well in a 21-17 loss to Minnesota in London – the Browns opted not to take their bye after. Cleveland QBs are now 0-17 in their first career start since 1999. Gabriel will get the call again here. These AFC North rivals split last year, each winning at home.

Pick ATS: Pittsburgh

Dallas Cowboys at Carolina Panthers

The Cowboys played their best game of the year Sunday in 37-22 win at the winless Jets. It was Dak Prescott’s 78th career victory to tie Tony Romo for third in franchise history. Tight end Jake Ferguson had another big game, and his 41 receptions have tied the league record by a tight end through the first five games of a season. Carolina rallied from an early 17-0 hole at home Sunday and beat Miami, 27-24. It matched the largest comeback win in team history. Former Cowboys tailback had 206 rushing yards starting for the injured Chuba Hubbard.

Pick ATS: Carolina

Seattle Seahawks at Jacksonville Jaguars

Short week for Jacksonville but at least didn’t have to travel after hosting Kansas City on Monday night to close Week 5 with the Jags pretty healthy entering that one. It’s a tricky 10 a.m. Pacific time kick for Seattle, which had a three-game winning streak snapped Sunday in a wild 38-35 home loss to Tampa Bay. Sam Darnold became just the second QB in Seahawks history with at least 300 passing yards, four TDs and a completion percentage of at least 80 in a game. Two defensive starters left early due to injury.

Pick ATS: Jacksonville

Los Angeles Rams at Baltimore Ravens

Baltimore played without QB Lamar Jackson and several other injured starters on Sunday, and it showed as the pre-season Super Bowl favourites fell to 1-4 with a 44-10 home loss to Houston – and Jackson is not likely back this week. Head coach John Harbaugh says he is not ready to fire his defensive coordinator even though the Ravens are allowing 35.PPG, the 11th most through the first five games of a season in league history and most in any five-game span in franchise history. The Rams were stunned last Thursday night at home by very short-handed San Francisco, 26-23 in OT. Excellent tailback Kyren Williams fumbled at Niners’ 1 with 1:08 left in the fourth and his team down 3.

Pick ATS: Baltimore

Tennessee Titans at Las Vegas Raiders

Two of the AFC’s worst teams. The Raiders looked the part in a 40-6 loss at Indianapolis on Sunday. Geno Smith had two more interceptions and is up to an NFL-high nine on the year, but Las Vegas doesn’t really have any other options as Kenny Pickett surely isn’t an upgrade. But maybe Pete Carroll make a change this week. Titans rookie No. 1 overall pick and QB Cam Ward got his first NFL win on Sunday, leading a shocking 22-21 comeback in Arizona. The Titans were down 16 in the fourth. They had lost 10 straight games overall.

Pick ATS: Las Vegas

Cincinnati Bengals at Green Bay Packers

Green Bay comes off its bye week winless in its past two games – a loss in Cleveland and a rare tie in Dallas. But the Packers have looked dominant in their two home wins. Cincinnati has looked utterly lost the past few weeks without Joe Burrow as it was routed again Sunday, 37-24 at home by Detroit, and it really wasn’t the close. Backup QB Jake Browning had three more picks and is up to eight already with Burrow a long ways from returning.

Pick ATS: Cincinnati

San Francisco 49ers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Bucs are the close-game and last-second kings as they won 38-35 in Seattle on Sunday with now all four victories this year decided by three points or fewer. They have become the first team in league history to win four of their first five on a game-winning score in the final minute of regulation. The Niners were missing several injured starters on Thursday in Week 5 at the Rams and sizeable dogs but were 26-23 OT winners as QB Mac Jones played great again for Brock Purdy and might be stealing the job. Thus, Purdy might push to make it back this week.

Pick ATS: Tampa Bay (alt -2.5)

Detroit Lions at Kansas City Chiefs

Sunday night game and a possible preview of Super Bowl LX. Kansas City will be at a disadvantage on a short week after it played a tough game in Jacksonville on Monday to close Week 6. Detroit has looked like arguably the NFL’s best team since losing Week 1 as the Lions won a fourth in a row Sunday, 37-24 in Cincinnati. They have scored at least 34 points in each during that run.

Pick ATS: Detroit

Buffalo Bills at Atlanta Falcons, Monday

First MNF kick at 7:15 ET on ESPN. Atlanta is off a Week 5 bye and has alternated losses and wins over the first four. Both young QB Michael Penix Jr. and young running back Bijan Robinson had career days in a 34-27 win over Washington in Week 4, and the Falcons should be healthy entering this one. Buffalo had been the AFC’s last unbeaten but was stunned at home on a last-second kick by New England on Sunday night, 23-20. The Bills’ streak of 26 straight games without losing the turnover battle was snapped. That was the league’s longest since at least 1940, including playoffs.

Pick ATS: Atlanta

Chicago Bears at Washington Commanders, Monday

Second MNF kick at 8:15 ET on ABC, and the second professional meeting between the quarterbacks chosen atop the 2024 NFL Draft in Chicago’s Caleb Williams and Washington’s Jayden Daniels. Williams was the top pick last year, but Daniels had the much better season and won Offensive Rookie of the Year. He also beat Williams in Maryland on a Hail Mary. The Bears are off their bye with back-to-back wins as Williams is starting to grasp the new offence of first-year head coach Ben Johnson. Daniels returned from a two-game injury absence on Sunday and led a 27-10 win at the L.A. Chargers. He became the first player in NFL history to reach 4,000 career passing yards and 1,000 rushing in his first 20 games.

Pick ATS: Chicago
