Brooklyn is looking to rebound after a surprise 118-95 loss in Chicago snapped their five-game winning streak on Monday.  The Orlando Magic are coming off a surprising result of their own, taking out Utah 107-100 on Sunday.

The Nets are 9-point favourites to win on the NBA odds, with a total of 210.

Nets vs. Magic NBA Betting Odds

Brooklyn got the better of the Magic last season, winning two of three meetings.  The Over also hit in two of those three games.  Sports Interaction bettors see both of those trends continuing, as 71 per cent of action is taking the Nets to win and 88 per cent is taking the Over to hit.

The Nets are starting to heat up and they come into Wednesday 5-1 straight up over their last six games.  They’re 5-6 against the spread this year and have covered just twice in their last nine games against Orlando.  After being known to rely almost solely on offence last year, it’s actually Brooklyn’s defence that has stepped up this season, leading the total to go Under in nine of 11 games.

It’s not exactly a shock to see that Orlando has struggled to start the year.  They’re 3-8 overall and have only picked up a single win in five home games.  Dating back to last season, the Magic are 2-15 SU in their last 17 home games.  For the year, they’re 4-7 ATS, covering once at home.  The total has gone Under in four of Orlando’s last five games.

Brooklyn Nets

The major storyline surrounding Brooklyn right now (other than Kyrie Irving) has been James Harden’s inconsistency.  In 34 minutes of action against Chicago, Harden finished with just 14 points on 36.4 per cent shooting from the floor.  Harden is averaging 18.3 points per game this season, down from 24.6 last year.  With Irving not returning to the team anytime soon and Harden struggling, it’s fallen to Kevin Durant to carry the offence.  Durant has looked good.  He finished with a game-high 38 points against the Bulls and is averaging a team-best 29.5 ppg and 8.7 rebounds.

Orlando Magic

One positive for Orlando this season, has been the emergence of second-year point guard Cole Anthony.  The 15th overall pick in the 2020 draft was a big reason for the Magic’s upset win against Utah as he finished with a game-high 33 points.  Anthony is averaging team-highs in points (20.2), assists (5.2) and steals (1.).  That’s a significant improvement from Anthony’s 12.9 ppg average last year.  Rookie Jalen Suggs (drafted fifth overall behind Toronto’s Scottie Barnes) hasn’t hit the ground running to start his career.  Suggs finished with just six points against Utah and is averaging 12 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists for the year.  There’s clearly still some growing pains to go through for Suggs and this young Orlando team as a whole.
