NBA: CP3 Ready to Rock Against Lakers Yet Again

Does Superman wear Chris Paul PJs? If so then Dwight Howard has some bizarre tastes. After turning in some pedestrian performances while rehabbing in the regular season, CP3 has entered beast mode in the playoffs and that’s bad news for the LA Lakers.

Leaving a lasting impression
This might be Chris Paul’s last ever season with the Hornets but CP3 is doing everything in his power to make it go on as long as possible. After taking over Game 1 with 33 points and 14 assists, Paul turned in a superhuman performance in Game 4 with a triple-double. He scored 27 points, dropped 15 dimes, and had 13 rebounds in a singularly dominant showing. That tally ensured the Hornets travel to Los Angeles tonight tied at 2-2 and nobody would put it past Paul giving New Orleans the edge tonight. The Lakers are big favorites with NBA betting fans on their home court but they have yet to find an answer for CP3 in this series. Things might only be about to get more difficult for LA in the decisive stage of this first round epic.

Phil Jackson’s nightmare
The past few days haven’t been terribly kind to the Lakers. On top of that 93-88 defeat in the Big Easy, LA have been dealt two further blows. First came the arrest of rarely-used bench player Derrick Caracter. While his issues won’t affect the rotation much the distraction is not going to aid his teammates’ preparations for tonight’s crucial match-up. The bigger concern is undoubtedly Kobe Bryant. Kobe sprained his left ankle late in Game 4 while giving chase to Willie Green. The Lakers’ legend has vowed to take the floor tonight and counting out Black Mamba is never a good idea.

Bulls and Hawks look to close the deal
Tonight’s other games could spell the end of the season for the Pacers and Magic. Having lost their shot at a sweep, the Bulls will want to make home court count against the Pacers tonight. Plucky as Indiana have been in this series, it’s tough to see them forcing the series to a sixth game.

The Magic meanwhile need to pull off a miracle if they want to avoid reading about possible trades involving Dwight Howard in the morning. Orlando trail the Hawks 3-1 in their first round series. A home win tonight is vital to avoid an early exit from the post-season. Defeat would see the Howard rumor-mill kick into gear. The fate of a franchise could rest on just one game.
