The Lakers close out their current three-game home stand on a high after rolling to a 131-99 demolition of Utah on Tuesday night, but have lost three of their past four when playing in the back half of games played on consecutive nights. The Mavericks arrive in LA on a two-game slide after falling 129-113 to the visiting Sacramento Kings on Sunday, but have won and covered the spread in each of their past three road dates with the Lakers.
The Mavericks lead the way as 3.5-point road favourites on the Wednesday NBA odds. The Lakers trail as +125 underdogs on the NBA moneyline, and the total is pegged at a lofty 240.5.

Winners in six of their past seven contests, the Lakers have enjoyed home cooking during that stretch, and now trail only Denver in the Western Conference with a 7-1 SU record on home hardwood. LA have effectively shut down opponents during their 3-0 run, allowing just 99.3 points per game. But while that has helped power a 4-0 run for the UNDER in totals betting, the Lakers remain a betting disappointment, failing to cover the spread in consecutive outings while going 6-98 against the spread so far this season. Conversely, the Mavericks have surrendered big point totals during their 1-3 slide, allowing 127.3 points per game, and have now allowed an average of 120.4 points per game this season, dumping them to 24th in the NBA. Kyrie Irving has steadily rounded into form since getting a late start to the season, and has scored at least 35 points in two of his past four appearances. Luka Doncic continues to sit among the league leaders with 30.4 points per game, but has seen his production drop off. The towering Slovenian has reached 30 points just once in his past four outings, and emerged as the team leader in scoring for the first time in six games with his 25-point performance against the Kings.
Los Angeles Lakers
Now just two games back of the top of the Western Conference standings after winning six of their past seven, and enjoying steadily improving health, the Lakers look to have finally found their groove after a sloppy start to the season. Previously hampered by back and hip woes, Anthony Davis turned in his best performance in almost two weeks in Tuesday’s win over Utah, setting team highs with 26 points and 16 rebounds, which also marked his 11th double-double in 14 appearances this season. Lebron James has also been playing through a calf injury that has contributed to some uneven results from the superstar. James recorded just 17 points in Tuesday’s win over the Jazz, and has now mustered 18 or fewer points in three of seven outings.
