Dallas Mavericks vs. Utah Jazz Prediction, NBA Odds

The Utah Jazz might be without All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell in Game 6 of their Western Conference playoff series vs. the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night as Utah tries to save its season as a very short underdog on the NBA odds.

Mavericks vs. Jazz NBA Betting Odds

We’ve said it earlier in this series, but if the Jazz disappoint in the playoffs yet again as it appears they will, there are going to be significant changes in that organization as it clearly has hit a ceiling with the current personnel. We would imagine Coach Quin Snyder is gone and that All-Star centre Rudy Gobert is traded.

With Dallas up 3-2, the Mavericks are -500 on the series line (was -135 entering Game 5) and the Jazz +361 (were +115). On the series correct score, Dallas in six is +100 and in seven +164 with Utah in seven at +374.

The Mavericks are 4-0 against the spread in their past four in Salt Lake City.

Dallas Mavericks

The Mavericks only had to sweat for the first quarter Monday in routing the Jazz 102-77 and are one win from reaching the Western Conference semifinals for the first time in 11 years – they were in the same situation last year vs. the Clippers but lost the final two games. Luka Doncic dominated with 33 points, 13 rebounds and five assists and a plus-32 rating. Jalen Brunson continued his breakout series with 24 points and just one turnover in 37 minutes. Reggie Bullock was ejected but nothing suspension-worthy. Really no one else did a lot on offence, but the defence was so good that it didn’t matter. The Jazz scored 19 points or less in each of the first three quarters and shot 37.7 per cent for the game. The Mavericks are 9-3 ATS in their past 12 games.

Utah Jazz

Utah looked in Game 5 rather like the 76ers did Monday vs. the Raptors: Disinterested. The team was a laughable 3-for-30 from deep. That was the worst three-point shooting performance ever by an NBA team in the playoffs when attempting at least 25 three-pointers. The 77 points were a season low for the Jazz. All-Star guard Mitchell had been scoring plenty in this series but shooting terribly. He was 4-for-15 overall and 0-for-7 from deep Monday for nine points before leaving with a hamstring injury – still not clear if Mitchell can play in Game 6 (said he’d be fine). Mitchell’s plus-minus of minus-38 was tied for the worst by any Jazz player in a playoff game since plus-minus was first tracked in 1996-97. The five Utah starters combined for 37 points, or four fewer than Mavs star Doncic scored himself. The Jazz are 1-4-1 ATS in their past six at home.
