Los Angeles is 4-0 ATS in the past four meetings.
Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers knew entering this series they had a huge edge in the front court led by Anthony Davis, and he was the best player on the floor by far in the 117-112 Game 1 victory with 30 points on 11-for-19 shooting along with 23 rebounds and five assists. He played a whopping 44 minutes, including every minute of the second half. Davis joined Shaquille O’Neal, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Elgin Baylor as the only players in team history to record a 30-20 game in the playoffs. LeBron James had 22 points, 11 rebounds and four assists. Davis and LeBron had become the first teammates with 20-10-5 and at least three blocks in the same playoff game since blocks were first tracked in 1973-74 season … but then a late scoring change took an assist away from James so he finished with four instead of five. Dennis Schroder was big off the bench with 19 points. The Lakers are 1-5 ATS in their past six Thursday games.
Golden State Warriors
The Warriors staged a late 14-0 run to tie Game 1 but Jordan Poole then missed a 28-footer in the final seconds with his team down three. LA hit two free throws to clinch it. Why was Poole and not Steph Curry or Klay Thompson attempting that shot? “I thought Jordan did a really good job,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. “I have the timeout stuff, I saw them double-teaming Steph at half court, so I knew somebody was going to be wide-open if we could just get the ball out, and Steph did a great job. He got the ball out of the trap and Jordan was wide-open, and pretty good look, and you know, that’s a shot he can hit.” Curry, Thompson and Poole became the first trio in NBA history with six made threes each in a playoff game. The Warriors went 4-for-17 on shots that Lakers star Anthony Davis contested, with Golden State shooting 40.6 per cent from the field overall in Game 1. The Dubs lost despite outscoring LA by 45 points behind the three-point arc. Golden State is 5-1 ATS in its past six after a loss.
