Los Angeles Lakers vs. Houston Rockets Prediction, NBA Odds
The Rockets have rebounded from a shaky 0-3 start to the season with three straight decisive victories, capped by Monday’s 122-97 rout of the Sacramento Kings, and have now won five of seven on home court since mid-March. The Lakers stumble into Houston after falling to defeat in the first two dates on their current four-game road trip, capped by Monday’s narrow 108-107 loss in Miami, and have now lost 11 of 12 on the road since the beginning of last spring’s NBA Playoffs.
Despite their current road woes, the Lakers look to Wednesday’s contest as 2.5-point road favourites on the NBA odds. The Rockets trail as attractive +120 home underdogs on the NBA moneyline, and the total is pegged at 220.5.
Lakers vs. Rockets NBA Betting Odds
The Lakers have struggled to score while going winless in their first four road games of the season. LA has scored 107 or fewer points in three of their four road losses, and the Lakers offence currently ranks a distant 19th in the league. In addition to fueling a disappointing 2-5 against the spread record, the Lakers’ spotty attack has given a boost to UNDERE bettors, who have cashed out in five of the team’s seven con tests to date. The Lakers have enjoyed considerably more success in recent dates with the Rockets, winning outright in 10 of 12 overall clashes. However, the Rockets have earned the win in their two most recent home dates with Los Angeles, and have covered in five of their past eight head-to-head meetings.
After averaging just 100.3 points per game during a three-game losing streak to start their schedule, the Rockets have found their groove. Houston has averaged 119 points per game during its current 3-0 run, and has limited opponents to 110 or fewer points in six of nine contests including four of their past five home dates.
Los Angeles Lakers
The lakers saw their worst fears realized in Monday’s loss to Miami. Anthony Davis was forced to leave the contest with a hip injury, and is listed as questionable for Wednesday. Davis was plagued injury woes throughout last season, limiting him to just 56 games. And while he is currently second on the team with 23.9 points per game, and tops with 12.0 rebounds per game, the return of Davis’ health woes add value to the +200 odds of him not producing a double-double on Wednesday. With Davis hobbled, the pressure increases on LeBron James to produce. King James stepped up with 30 points on Monday, and is a solid -120 bet to pick up OVER 34.5 points and rebounds in Houston.
Houston Rockets
For the second time in three days, the Rockets handed Sacramento a lopsided loss with Monday 122-97 victory. Houston led by as much as 40 points in the fourth quarter before turning the floor over to the team’s supporting cast. Indeed, both Rockets’ wins over the Kings were full team efforts, with five players scoring in the double-digits on Monday, and six in their 107-89 win over Sacramento on Saturday night. Jalen Green led the attack on Monday with 23 points, and has now scored at least 21 points in four of five outings to claim the top of the team’s scoring stats. The team’s other first-round pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Alperun Sengun contributed 17 points and 12 assists, and sports -110 odds on the NBA player props to record his third double-double of the season on Wednesday night.
