The Lakers opened a pivotal six-game road trip on Saturday with their second straight win, a 145-144 victory in Golden State, and are currently knotted with Utah in the battle for the final two playoff spots in the Western Conference. The Rockets sit just outside the playoff picture, two games back of Utah and LA, in the wake of Saturday’s 106-104 defeat in Brooklyn that marks their ninth loss in 13 games.

The Rockets are pegged as a strengthening -120 bet to cover as 1.5-point home underdogs on the Monday NBA odds. The Lakers are listed as slender -115 chalk on the NBA moneyline, and the total sits at 230.5.

Lakers vs. Rockets NBA Betting Odds

The Lakers have largely shaken off the lengthy swoon that impacted them from mid-December into the new year, posting wins in seven of 11 contests. However, maintaining momentum on the road has been a struggle. Saturday’s victory over the Warriors marks just their fourth win in 14 road contests. In addition, the Lakers 3-0 run on the road in mid-November marks the only time this team has claimed consecutive wins while compiling a brutal 7-15 SU road record.

The Rockets looked poised for a leap forward while starting the season on a 13-9 run. But it has been all downhill since, with Houston losing three in a row on four occasions since US Thanksgiving and losing six of 10 at home since Christmas Day. However, the Rockets have halted a lengthy slide on the NBA Odds by covering the spread in three of their past four outings and are 3-1 SU and ATS in their past four home dates with the Lakers.

Los Angeles Lakers

As has been the case on an almost nightly basis this season, both Anthony Davis and LeBron James are listed as questionable for Monday’s date with the Rockets. James has been nursing an ankle injury that forced him to miss a pair of games so far this month. However, the 39-year-old superstar was not slowed by the injury while playing 48 minutes versus Golden State and recording a triple-double with 36 points, 20 rebounds, and 12 assists. Davis remains bothered by an Achilles injury that has made him a fixture on the injury reports, but which has not forced him to miss time. AD is coming off a 29-point, 13-board performance versus the Dubs and has recorded eight straight double-doubles.

Houston Rockets

The Rockets fell just short of forcing overtime for the third time in five games in Saturday’s 106-104 loss to the Nets. Houston has produced a big second half in each of the past three games, averaging 70 points after recess. However, slow starts remain a concern, with the Rockets ranking 26th in the NBA while averaging just 54.6 points first-half points scored this season. Alperen Sengun continues to lead the club with 21.7 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game, and sports solid -115 odds on the NBA player props to record his sixth double-double in seven games.
