The Pelicans return home dropping a 111-106 decision in Dallas on Thursday that marked the team’s 15th defeat in their past 18 games. The Lakers wrap up a five-game road trip in the Big Easy gunning for a third straight victory after escaping Indiana with a 112-111 win on Thursday night, and are now poised to win three in a row on the road for the second time since December 30.

The point spread is unchanged since opening with the Lakers pegged as 1-point favourites, while the total has dipped to 234.5 since opening at 236.

Lakers vs. Pelicans NBA Betting Odds

Saturday evening’s matchup at Smoothie King Center marks the second of four regular season meetings between these squads. The Lakers posted a 120-117 win when the Pelicans visited LA on November 2, ending a three-game straight up and against the spread losing streak in head-to-head play. However, the Lakers have won and covered in just one of their past three trips to New Orleans. The past two clashes between these clubs have each been settled by just three points. The UNDER has paid out in four of their past five dates. k

Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers inched towards a return to the playoff picture during their current 5-3 run. Now just 1.5 games shy of 10th place in the Western Conference, the Lakers continued their steady climb with an impressive comeback in Thursday’s win over the Pacers. Trailing by a dozen to start the fourth quarter, Los Angeles overwhelmed the beleaguered Pacers with a 28-15 rally to earn their sixth win in nine away contests. Anthony Davis continued his steady swing back into form, draining a game-high 31 points and adding 14 rebounds in his third double-double performance in four outings since returning from injury. Lebron remains listed as questionable as he continues to nurse an ankle injury, and racked up 26 points on Thursday while seeing fewer than 35 minutes of action for the third time in five outings.

New Orleans Pelicans

The Pelicans looked like they were on their way to another crushing loss in Dallas on Thursday. New Orleans went to the room at the half trailing by 29, but responded with an an unexpected resurgence after recess, highlighted by an impressive 30-16 fourth-quarter rally that fell just short in an 11-106 loss. Thursday’s comeback is one of the few positives to note about a Pelicans squad that appeared poised to compete in the West after opening their schedule on a 23-12 run, but which has gone just 3-15 since to fall to 10th in the conference standings. With no return to action in sight for Zion Williamson, who suffered a hamstring injury at the outset of the team’s epic swoon in early January, the Pelicans have been scoring by committee. Brandon Ingram led the way in Dallas with 26 points, marking his best performance in four games since returning from injury. CJ McCollum has done most of the heavy lifting in Zion’s absence, and has averaged 27.4 points over his past seven home appearances.
