The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off a narrow 96-95 win over the Boston Celtics on Saturday. They were sloppy at the end of the game – turning the ball over multiple times – but they eventually survived. They continue their east coast road trip with a visit to the Atlanta Hawks, a team that’s won five of their last seven games.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Lakers are currently 0-4 against the spread (ATS) in their past four games overall but are destined to change that outcome – if their stars play. The latest we know is that both LeBron James and Anthony Davis are questionable. Considering both played on Saturday, it’s unlikely both are out on Monday.

On the other hand, the under is 12-3 in the Hawks last 15 games overall. That number could fall to 12-4 given how different these two teams work on offense. The Lakers could put up a load of points quickly in this game due to their dominant inside game while the Hawks could rain threes down.

Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers seem to be doing everything well so far this season, ranking in the top five in both defense and offensive rankings. However, their three-point shooting has been the worst part of their game so far, ranking 26th in the league in made threes. They are going to need their role players to knock down more shots from the outside if they would like to get past volume three-point shooting teams like the Hawks.

The difference in this game is likely to be the stars. While the Hawks are real cute – they’ve got a lot of potential in the future – they don’t have enough star power right now. The Lakers have two big boys while the Hawks are still trying to figure it out. James and Davis remain the most formidable duo in the entire league right now with James averaging 25 points, seven rebounds and seven assists per contest. If James and Davis are able to make it onto the floor and play solid minutes, then this team is in good shape.

Atlanta Hawks

Trae Young is the closest thing this team has to a star and he’s a bright one. He’s leading the offensive charge for this team, leading the roster in points, assists and minutes played already. But he isn’t doing this alone as veteran center Capela has brought his game to an entirely different level this year, averaging just over two blocks per game and a whopping 14.5 rebounds. They have more balance but they will be without some depth for this contest. Bogdan Bogdanovic and D’Andre Hunter are likely to miss this game, which removes two very solid players from the rotation. As usual for this Hawks team, they are going to need a massive performance from Young if they want any shot at a win. On the other end of the floor, they’ll have to deliver defensively as they have much of the year. They’re fourth in opponent field goal percentage and if they can force the Lakers into a bad shooting night, they’ll have a chance.
